If Crossan is right, the dogs devoured his corpse after he was crucified.

That'd be kind of a Charlie Sheen winning moment by most standards.

But my preference is for a redaction.
I believe the majority position is, coming at the end, the final pages were lost -- separated from the rest of the text. Last I checked, the minority view was the gospel was intended to end at 16:8.
I disagree with both positions and side with Powell. But I admit we are in the super-minority.
I don't know if anyone will ever know for sure.

Just thought I would pull out a contemporary resource and see what they said. The Cambridge Companion to the Bible, Second Editio,n doesn't even mention any of the longer endings (3 isn't it?) It just ends that section on Mark like this:

"The theme of the hidden nature of the divine purpose is implied in the strange ending of Mark (16:8), where the women who have seen the young man at the tomb say nothing to anyone but are filled with astonishment, fear and trembling. Those reactions, however, are precisely the ones attributed to Daniel (Daniel 10:7-12) after God has granted him visions of the end-time and the throne of God. The very terms used here by Mark are the same as those found in one of the ancient Greek versions of Daniel..." - p.529

I did not know that.

In an interview with Public Radio, Hamer also claimed that his testing showed an inclination towards transcendence and spirituality, and NOT towards a belief in a god per se. He emphasized the importance of seperating spirituality from religion. He also claimed that in testing for spirituality, members of the clergy (various religions) had consistantly scored quite low.
Hey Lost, good to read you!

Please see my above post to Mr. Wiggles on where I personally stand when it comes to his findings. I read a portion of his book. To be completely honest with you, I only read to the point where he described his findings when it came to women (very early in the book). Call me biased if you likeÖbut his findings were very telling to me. My own laymen understanding read me to think, that his findings implied, that he had to discard the subjects that were females because the parameters of his studyÖdid not work if they included females (Most had the gene). To be honest I was a bit let down, and hope I read it wrong.

I did not know that.
Me neither. But those favoring an intended ending at 16:8 often rely on Mark's theme of mystery as a reason.

See Clownie,

You're not even paying attention.

If, as you claimed, your deity is pleased when Christians represent the Gospel, then surely he would be pissed at Christians, like you, destroying the brand.
Do you think that's why your deity caused all those tornadoes in the Bible belt on Christmas?

Or maybe there just weren't enough Nativity Scenes on courthouse lawns.

Or maybe your deity just can't actually do anything.
