8.This could be the end of days. This is one of my favorites. We Christians love to look for signs of the end of the world; we practically have an apocalyptic fetish. Its like we cant wait until everything comes to a smoldering halt so we can stand tall with that I told you so look on our faces, while the nonbelievers beg for mercy. Yeah, that sounds like an awesome religion youve got going there. Sign me up!
It's a huge circle jerk. What's even more frightening is that a lot of these types are in high level government.

7.Do you accept Jesus as your personal lord and savior? Again, this is not in the Bible. Anywhere. And for me, it goes against the whole Christlike notion of the suffering servant. People tried to elevate Jesus to the status of Lord, but he rejected it. So why do we keep trying? Plus, the whole idea of a lord is so antiquated, it has no real relevance to our lives today. Be more mindful of your words, and really mean what you say.

We moved to the Mountains of N.C. and one of the interesting things I learned, was that many folks that lived in the area did not have power or running water in their homes up to the late 1970s. A few homes in the area still did not have electricity running to their homes when we were there in the 90s. We would go to the homes and do wellness checks during the winter time. When I asked a local why they did not have power, I was told that for some it was due to choice, and for others it was due to the cost of running the electric to the home from the main line at the road. Their homes did not look like the one in the link Water provided. They looked like typical smaller homes, but they were out in no mans land off of dirt paths that could loosely be termed a drive (We used ATVs during the winter to get in).
It is very easy in my opinion, to forget that some simply choose to live life without things that many of us take for granted. On 276 from S.C to N.C (or vise versa) at the way point between the foothills of S.C. and the Eastern Continental Divide sign in N.C. there is an old iron hand drawn well off the side of the road, that many in the area still use to get fresh water. I tried to find a photo of the area online, I could not find the well but I did find one of my favorite spots to sit and unwind.
http://daveallenphotography.com/pretty_place_...
It is an open chapel, so there is no glass in that photo. I have to tell you that it was always amazing to sit up there on the ledge and look out over it all. The best time was during the winter, when you could only hike in. The photo says that it is a couple miles to N.C. but we lived about two city blocks from the camp, and we lived in N.C. so he is a little off in the mileage. If anyone finds themselves in the area, this is well worth a detour in my opinion (Do not attempt in the winter though). By the way, the silence is as breathtaking as the view. No cars, if you hit it right, no people..hmmm, I think I am due for a road trip in the spring ;O)
That was gorgeous NS...I can understand why it is a favorite place.

Many of the houses that existed when I was growing up have now disappeared...including my family home. They were falling down when I was a child and just too far gone to fix up.

Good afternoon, NS.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful story. There are so many wonderful places like this up in the mountains. In fact, there are places like that even where I live.

There's a rock with a plaque on it on Hwy 11 in Mansfield GA. I have gone there so many times when I just wanted to renew. The road was cut in some 20 years ago and there's barely room to park now, but it's still not a busy road and you can sit there in the quiet and just 'connect'. It's locally called 'Preaching Rock' as it was where the first sermon was preached when that area was settled. My dad took me there when I was a little girl and I have taken each one of my children, individually, as they were growing up. I have now taken the grandchildren. Now there's a whole family of us who love this one quiet little spot on the side of the road.

There are many places where you can connect. One of my favorites is a little Catholic church built by Native Americans in Arizona, San Xavier. The walls are covered in hand carved saints and symbols and each wall is covered with paintings lovingly done by the Native Americans. The building is in the old cross shape and made of adobe bricks painted bright white. There is a small open chapel that is accessible when the main church is closed. The walkway to it has the 12 stations of the cross.

When you walk in the door you are so moved by the simple beauty it's as if you can feel every prayer ever uttered there. It is truly moving.

I personally like to be in the mountains. I feel closer to creation of the universe there than anywhere else on earth, and I will certainly look for the site you mentioned when I am up that way.

Thank you again for sharing your experience. I can't share your experience but I can appreciate it and maybe have one of my own when I go there.

Please explain in detail how this is a false teaching, t-town. Surely as you claim to have such knowledge of the Bible you can explain it in your own words.

(I'm not holding my breath for you to do so, however. You've never answered a question from your own knowledge to date, but only thrown out cherry-picked Bible verses on which you have no explanation or comment.)

WN...this would be a good day trip for you. It is beautiful. If you are ever on I65N out of Chattanooga it is well worth a side tripe. There are lots of little side trails that stop and have a picnic.

The town of Sewanee is beautiful and the college campus if filled with old world charm.

After reading this exchange between you and her, I am convinced more than ever that you are not even one quarter as smart as you like to tell us you are. You are never going to recover from that one. Do yourself a favor, and just go--unless you really enjoy being humiliated.
