Do those actually exist? I can't recall when or where but I swear I heard about them existing.
The Samaitans still exist as a small population around Shilo and still hold the sacrifices per the Torah at the ruins of the Temple at Mt. Gezerim.

They are the remnants of the Israelites who remained after the Judeans were forcibly migrated to Babylonia.

The Samaritans hold that they are the true Israelites and that the Judeans (Jews) are paganized frauds.

There is every reason to believe that Jesus and many of the discoples were Samaritans because Galillee is in Samaria, not Judea.

They all have boats.
The closest you will come to Sumerian religion in the modern world is Zoroastrianism.

Did you know Freddie Mercury was a Zoroastrian ?

<quoted text> I somehow doubt seriously that you feel about them the way I do. Especiall women's rights.
As far as I know, Native Americans have never tried to have laws passed to put up their religious beliefs on government property. If you have a case of such, I'll be glad to look at it.
When ID can have the repeatable, testable evidence as does what is taught in a science class, then everyone should look at it again. At this point, it deserves no equality because it's sole purpose is to promote a God it cannot prove nor provide for testing. Not only that, it ID promotes a specific God. There is not a single person promoting ID in this country but Christians. If you have a method of testing the supernatural, let the scientists know. I'm sure they'll be interested.
As for women's rights, I doubt again that you hold the same views any female holds. You couldn't possibly know what it's like to have a male tell you what you can and cannot do with your own body. Men are perfectly willing to do what it takes to make a baby. They are perfectly willing to allow the government to pay for Viagra and other drugs so they are physically able to perform. But They are not willing to allow a woman birth control? Come on.
There is no such thing as 'Obama-care'. There is however a National Health Care Act. It is basically the same health care program that Mitt Romney put together for his state. No one in that state is complaining about health care, though many did before it was enacted. Check it out.
I do not know why women have to continue to fight for their own bodies. Religion says that men are to make their decisions. I think it is, or should be, illegal for that to happen under our Constitution.
We've had a predominantly Republican Congress for over three years. They will make stump speeches about Roe v Wade in order to get the vote of males, but won't touch it as far as trying to change it. You figure that out.
Women should never have had to fight for the right to vote, to have a bank account, to own property, to have the same wages for the same job and damn well shouldn't have to fight to keep R v W in place, much less to get birth control.
Men are just as 'guilty' as women when it comes to not wanting a child. The difference is, they can deposit their sperm and walk away and never have to raise the child. A woman cannot walk away because she is the receptacle, and you'd like to keep that way. How many people standing in front of an abortion clinic are holding signs that say 'Don't have an abortion, I'll adopt your child and make sure they have a good home, a good education and health care'.? None. That's the hypocrisy. How many of those same people who say they are pro-life also believe that war is the answer to peaceful solutions? How many of them believe in the death penalty? Most of them. So they are not pro-life, they are anti-abortion. Pro-life just sounds better and makes those who think it's a woman's right to choose sound as if they are anti-life.
Are you aware that 31 states allow a man who has fathered a child by rape visiting rights for that child? I'm sure you think that's just fine too.
But this thread is not about any of that. It's about why we are no longer Christians. The fact that fundamentalist Congressmen are trying to put us back in the dark ages and impose their Biblical laws on every citizen is part of why many of us are no longer Christians, however.
Whoa! Hold on there! Didn't you read my paragraph? I said some people have complaints about such issues. I don't. I said I understand why some people have complaints about these issues. This does not mean I advocate those same views. Get a grip and stop assuming. Yes I'm evangelical, yes I'm an apologist. But that doesn't mean I side with everything that comes down the Christian pike just for the sake of solidarity.

You assume wayyyyyy too much.

No thanks.I'll pass cause God didn't make me out to be a fool and I don't tempt God by testing Himto see if He'll protect me. By the way, what makes you think I'm interested in your so called credentials. I have debated all kinds of Doctoral educated people and made them seem as if they were kindergartners by comparison and I have discovered that you are no exception either.

I have taught youmuch since I've been here though of courseyou won't admit it.Your ego won't allow you to be honest

Thank you for proving my case.
You haven't proven your case. Not by a long shot. Don't go all "Dewey Defeats Truman" on me now.

Why don't you think I could write an accurate historical account of the JFK assassination? What makes you so sure I couldn't?

This should be interesting.

You do? You really need to check your ego at the door. You're not gonna like my next statement, but I don't really care either.

Do YOU know Greek? I DO.

Do YOU know Hebrew? I DO.

Have YOU been to Jerusalem? I HAVE. TWICE.

Do YOU have an Undergraduate's Degree w/ honors in Ancient History from a secular University? I DO.(Binghamton University - SUNY)

Do YOU conduct historical research as a profession? I DO.(Not in religion either - just sayin')

If anyone around here has extensive knowledge without having gone to a Divinity School, it is I. But I do not correct your errors for my own ego, no matter what you might think. I correct your errors because they are just THAT. ERRORS.

Go ahead. Get mad, get nasty, it matters little to me how you react.

What does matter is what I've seen, where I've been, and that the conclusions I have reached are more plausible than not.

Your ego is dedicated to yourself.

My ego is dedicated to knocking your presuppositions right where they belong: in the dust.

Now shall we continue?

You're kidding me. You actuallyreallyconsiderwhat you have been presenting here as your knowing the scriptures? Then your standards are very low when it comes to accurately comprehending Gods word my friend.

Ever learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.

He has demonstrated his knowledge, you have not. Knowledge doesn't change because you want to "interpret" it differently.

They are not crying that they have had the privilidge of displaying their religion on public property for over 100 years, they are complaining that they have to either stop it or allow other religions the same priviledge.
I am supprosed they aren't trying to force medical schools to teach faith healing and exorcism.
With regard to your first point...yepper.
And your second...they are and have been but we are learning to catch them early on so all they can do is complain.
