i'm really not sure where you stand in the grand scheme of things, but the big picture to remember on this thread is there are those who oppose God and everything about Him and there are those who don't.
i don't have everything figured out and i can get as angry and silly as anyone here at times, but one thing i do know is that i stand with God!:)
I don't oppose your god. I think, as written, the story id ridiculous and there has never been any evidence to suggest that any gods have ever existed. That is not opposition, that is simply a lack of belief in light of no good evidence for belief. hy must you lie?

I was not discussing Paul. I was talking about the books and the language they were written in. Since you asked, I do not hate Paul but I do not like him because he was an opportunist, a self-loathing sinner and a liar. He made most things up.
Let me tell you something interesting:
We have heard it was written (an example) "I in the Father, the Father in me, people in me and all of us in the father". Right?
If the Greek text were to be translated back into Hebrew or Aramaic, it would mean "The Father, I and the people are on the same side".
It would not mean that Jesus and his followers are literally inside the Father.
If you take the phrase "Out of sight, out of mind" and translate it back and forth you get "Invisble idiot".

No, you don't. You act vile and contemptuous and then make claims for which there is zero evidence. Anyone can do that and many have done so throughout history. The result? Death and destruction.

I believe that there are many Christians...and so few true followers of Christ. The qualifications to call oneself a Christian are fairly low...while the stakes for a follower of Christ is almost unobtainable.
Ask yourself...do you follow all the rules that lie between the bindings of your Bible? If one is honest I believe that most would have to admit that in reality they follow very few of them. Can you be a "true" believer if one does not try to follow them all?
As I said...I have met many Christians...but very few "followers of Christ". IMO...there is a difference.
As far as calling God a person...I am uncomfortable with that label. Again...IMO...to call him a person would be bringing him down to our level. I guess however that is a matter of opinion. I personally find God to be more than that...a spirit of our souls...a driving force in our lives. How could a great spirit be a person...no more no less than you or I?
Well...JMO...
As DOC said...my load of hoakum is just that...mine...so I will try and keep it in my own cart!
hi Annie -
no stress re-posted this and i was able to take the time to review and address. i honestly don't remember responding to it previously.
Annie - "Follow them and you are a follower of Christ. Not one or two...or even a handful...all of them."
i can agree with you on this, however the point of Christ's death on the cross for the sin of the world was because we have ALL failed to live a life of following God's rules. i admit my failures and consequently my need of the Savior.
Annie - "To merely believe that Jesus is the Son of God does nothing more than make you a believer. It is not until you are able to follow the rules/system do you become a follower"
i concur with this as well! however, salvation comes from believing/trusting in the righteousness of Christ and His finished work on the cross, not from trusting in our own ability to follow God's rules. learning to follow Christ and to defer to Him over our own desires is the process of discipleship and it lasts an entire lifetime with much trial and error.
Annie - "...while the stakes for a follower of Christ is almost unobtainable"
i will agree with you here although it's not just "almost unobtainable", but impossible except for the grace and power of the Holy Spirit who works in us to this end.
Annie - "For the non-believer there are no set rules that they follow...there is no system in place dictating what one must believe...or not believe"
i disagree with you on this. "the system" and "rules" are indeed "in place" for evryone alike, and you seem to know them as well or better than most, but you're choosing not to follow them but only to point at those who try and mock them as they do.
Annie - "Ask yourself...do you follow all the rules that lie between the bindings of your Bible?"
the rule i follow is to believe on "the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world" including my sin. THIS encourages me to follow this loving God as best i can and to trust HIm with my trials and errors.
Annie - "As far as calling God a person...I am uncomfortable with that label"
the whole idea of Redemption is to restore our spirit to the place of relationship with God. therefore it is God bringing us back up to His level of fellowship that we hope for, not us bringing Him down to ours.

To my Christian brethern and sisthren on the forum. Has any of you ever noticed that Cain is not listed in Adam's geneology in Genesis?
When my pastor first brought this to our attention I was floored till he explained WHY Cain is not listed in Admas geneology.
God was the father not Adam:

"I have gotten a child from God." Gen. 4:1

Just like your Christ only it comes right out and says so.

Since you insist, I am pleased to confirm that I hate Paul. lol!
Now, tell me why do you love that rascal, who came out of the blue, filled the vacuum left by Jesus and his disciples, who had fled and gone into hiding and wrote a few thousand times more than what Jesus spoke in three years. I consider him the man, who fills and owns the New Testament.
Please give me 120 reasons to show why that man must be loved?
Paul admits to be being a murderer before his "mission" and to be a theif and a liar afterwards.
Paul also claims to have authority higher than even God himself.

He was a Roman citizen, not Jew and never met Jesus, knows nothing contained in any gospel, never quotes Jesus and never mentions anything except "ressurection". It is even unclear whether he considered Jesus to be God.

I decided long ago to not let the impropper use of the word "retarded" to affect me. Slow and steady (retared) wins the race while the "advanced" ones burn out and fall by the wayside.

Read Aesop's Tortoise and the Hare.

Any word can be used as an insult by the ignorant. The wise are not hurt by such paper tigers.

i think maybe that we should define deity (small d).
in this context, i'm referring to the person whom one thinks that they are 'ultimately' responsible to. if a person doesn't think that their responsible to anyone other than themselves, that would make them their own, morally self-sufficient deity. no?:)
Hardly.
You are responsible to society, civilization, and the environment of which you are a part. Willful neglect of any part of that environment depreciates the quality of the whole. As cognizant humans we have a greater responsibility to that end, mentally and physically.
No magical deity is going to rectify those failings of responsibility.
It is up to us to decide whether we wish to better our environment and existence, or become detractors and destroyers of it.

I agree that Jesus was not a fraud. Making him the Christ was. But they still can't believe in his words, they have to turn to Paul.
