A tanker truck carrying approximately 8,600 gallons of unleaded gasoline caught on fire on the Interstate 80/880 interchange in Oakland, California early Sunday morning around 3:40 AM.
The fire resulted in the collapse of at least two sections of bridges at the interchange, including one carrying I-580.
The multi-level freeway interchange known as the MacArthur Maze connects the Bay Bridge (Interstate 80) to Interstates 580, 880, and 980 and California State Highway 24, and as such it connects several major cities in California, including San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley.
The driver, James Mosqueda, 51, of Woodland, California, escaped from his truck before the fire. He was the only person reported to be hurt, suffering second-degree burns. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The driver was believed to be speeding, resulting in a loss of control of the truck, causing it to flip over and subsequently burst into flames. As the truck was traveling on the interchange of I-80 eastbound to I-880 southbound near the San Francisco Bay Bridge, it is speculated to have hit a guard rail or column during a turn. Shortly thereafter, it exploded into a fire that lasted several hours.
Caltrans officials have announced that repairs will be fast-tracked, but will still take several weeks. Public transit has responded with plans to increase service and re-route buses that used the destroyed interchange.
Gov. Schwarzenegger has declared a state of emergency that in addition to expediting repairs will suspend restrictions on truck traffic hours and provide free use of area public transportation on Monday, April 30.
http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Tanker_truck_fire...
The truck overturned and stopped under an overpass and the fire damaged the road the truck was on and the road above. The large multi-level freeway overpass was completely closed for several weeks while repairs continued 24/7 till it got fixed. Steel had to be specially ordered from China.
Believe It Or Not
Huh Eh !
Thank you. The tanker, carrying less fuel that either plane hitting the trade towers, destroyed the freeway overpass constructed of much heavier metal.

In summary, we have studied two key pieces of wreckage photographed at the Pentagon shortly after September 11 and found them to be entirely consistent with the Rolls-Royce RB211-535 turbofan engine found on a Boeing 757 operated by American Airlines.
The circular engine disk debris is just the right size and shape to match the compressor stages of the RB211, and it also shows evidence of being attached to a triple-shaft turbofan like the RB211.
There is simply no evidence to suggest these items came from any other engine model than the RB211-535, and the vast majority of these engines are only used on one type of plane--the Boeing 757.

Asphalt burns, concrete doesn't. Steel gets hot and the asphalt burns more. Steel gets hotter and softens and the asphalt burns hotter.

The WTC towers had no asphalt to burn hot and hotter, only office furniture.

There is NO comparison between the two but nice try.

Go on and take the default winner's trophy home and place it next to the others you have won by default.

No comparison as far as asphalt goes but the twins more than made up for that with the drafting effect of a highrise.....incredible updrafts and core downdrafts made the entire structure as if it were a furnace easily reaching temps well beyond your tanker accident.

You go on and hide now boy.....stamp your feet, slam your door because you once again have been spanked.

A fuel tanker truck under a bridge, causing a fuel fed fire that continuously burns for hours, or a high speed impact of an aircraft that atomizes the fuel in an explosion that burns off in ten minutes - after much of the fuel burned in a fireball outside the structure.

NIST didn't check for explosives, because they didn't want to find any. NIST did not consider a controlled demolition hypothesis because it didn't want to find one.

STRAWMAN, The NIST did not say the jet fuel caused the steel to weaken, it just set the carpets and everything else on the floors on fire that burnt for a hour or so.

No one EVER claimed jet fuel brought down the towers.

Yeah it was carpets and office furnishing fires on a few floors and good ol gravity that done it. Yeah sure that's it.

Prove that asphalt was even a factor Einstein.

Correct, metal softens and also loses its strength and deflects. This happened to the towers as well.

Thanks for your input.

False. The amount of fuel burning releases the energy contained in the fuel. The towers would have been much hotter due to updrafts increasing the temperature of the mixture. The towers had a great deal of combustible material inside including what the aircraft brought with it. Plastic is a petro chemical and highly combustible given the right conditions.

Tires, plastic panels, luggage, curtains, wall coverings, furniture, tons of paper, etc.

You greatly underestimated the fuel load of the crash site.

Thank you fof clearifying that steel does indeed weaken from temperatures within its parameters of meltpoint.

Also touche on the fact that NISTdid not look for explosives .....I concur....why would they?

As you agree that the reason NIST didnt look for explosives was....well because fuel laden jet airliners were commandered with terror and flown into the WTCs and the Pentagon.

Did you happen to see any insults inmy post....of course not.

Anyway you slice it there just may be hope for the misfits of Alex Jones island

Yes, the very materials that are fire resistant and doesn't burn very hot and the very materials that has never brought down a steel framed highrise building. Once again, NIST said normal office fires brought down all three buildings and all on the same day. About like something you would find a comic.
