I am not sure what is wrong with Bloomberg. How many armed guards does he have when he goes around the city? Having an armed policeman in the school is the first proposal that makes sense, Many schools HAD a school resource officer until the budget cuts came. It is not a paranoid vision but is a recognition of reality. When was the last time we had a massacre inside of a police station?

Let's create a TSA-style school guard bureaucracy. More government, yes!

Ok- what would YOU suggest??????

More government to take away guns??????????

Or would you simply leave the children unprotected just because you do not want to pay any more taxes??????????

We are waiting for an alternative plan that will work.

Bloomberg should be arrested. He illegally spies on citizens with wiretaps and bugs. The man is a danger to freedom.

Seems to me the plan of locking people in with a crazed madman, and hiding under desks and in closets waiting to be killed next is not a good plan either.

blame everyone but themselves

Funny, what Bloomberg says of the NRA I say of the shooter. The one that plotted, planned and executed his rampage. Just like the blame for obese out of shape New Yorkers is on the individual who doesn't workout, diet or do both and that evil 32oz soda.

Maybe the NRA didn't put it pretty but the actual blame or a place to improve is school security. Maybe it doesn't even have to be an armed guard or teacher but school security, the actual physical presence between the students and mayhem is where the focus, not the blame should be.

Bloomberg is right of cause. The NRA's vision for America is paranoid. An America with more guns which would be even more dangerous and brutal. An America, where everybody is armed and where there is no place safe anymore.

Tax the hell out of guns & Ammo, this tax income could be used to provide the NRA's idea of a trained armed guard at US schools, that seems infinitely fair. Make the gun nuts pay for the problems their obsession causes. Go on prez Obama tax em to the max
Yea! We could be like England taxed to death, with socialist health care! Thank you oh wise Brits! Why did we leave anyway?

Yes Bloomberg is right all the time, no sodas over 16oz, no smokeing in your own home, mothers should be pushed to breastfeed, and while flanked by body guards push guns being banned.

Pfft. If they taxed ammo and guns anymore than they already do I'll go ahead and make my own.

I guess YOU are willing to let the kids die because a criminal, by definition, does not pay attention to the law- and a nutjob cares even less about the law. Making drugs illegal has not stopped them from coming into this country and the same thing will apply with guns and ammo.

So, what you are saying is that you are unwilling to provide protection for the kids because you don't like guns. I guess you think that if we outlaw guns, there will no longer be guns on the street. Look how well that worked out for drugs. All of our schools are drug free zones, but how many kids do you think brought illegal drugs to the school? I guess you think that all of those AK 47s that are out there (millions manufactured everywhere from Russia to China) and are available at such a low cost that peasants from Africa and Asia are able to buy them will not be brought into this country en-masse. Nobody who is planning on killing themselves after a massacre would be willing to spend their life savings buying a gun and ammo that they will no longer need after they are dead, right?????? So therefore, since criminals will not have guns, there will be no need for an armed guard in the school.

I have news for you. A lot of schools already have cops assigned to them. Those cops are armed and they do a lot more than protect against a random shooter (more kids were killed by falling TVs this year than were killed with a gun in a classroom). They protect kids against assault from other kids. They help to keep drug trafficking in schools down. They help keep a lid on gang tensions. Of course, you understand NONE of this since in your little, pointy pin head, if you outlaw guns, everyone is going to hold hands and sing Kumbaya.

Oh. By the way, I see you are from Britain. No guns equals no violence, right????? Maybe I am mistaken, but I thought you guys had terrorists blowing up buses and trains> I must be wrong because you live in the land of eternal peace-England-where there is no crime because the guns have been banned.
