While I do agree that Operation Ajax was bad, it was a product of the Cold War. Truman opposed it, but when Eisenhower took office he listened to his old wartime boss Churchill who claimed Mosaddegh was moving into the communist camp. The US never acknowledged our involvement until Congressional investigations of the CIA in the 1970s. Khomeini used that information for his own political goals and to solidify his power in 1979.<quoted text>
Are you joking me?
Iran was not you ally. Who destroyed the Democratic government of Iran? The nation of Iran was Iranian terroitory but the CIA started Operation TP Ajax.
We didnt put the Shah in power, the Shah was already in power and he appointed Mosaddegh Prime Minister. Mosaddegh began to assume power that the Shah once had, he called for elections then canceled them when the results werent what he wanted. Mosaddegh even dissolved parliament. While Iran may have been more democratic under Mosaddegh than under the Shah or under Khomeini, it certainly was no democracy.
