Something has been bothering me a lot these days. Is it just me or majority of women from USA are scared of marriage. My 3-year relationship with my girlfriend just went down the drain after I proposed to her. It was a really great relationship so I thought, hey, maybe she’s really the one. I prepared a very romantic proposal, informed her mom of my plan, but when I went down on one knee she turned me down. She said she’s not ready to marry yet, said she’s still building her career. Also said she’s still not ready to have a family. We’re already turning 30 with great jobs and has our apartment. I thought by now she would be. Does she just dislike the idea of marriage? Was it me? I’m really confused right now.

From what I've seen my answer would be yes they are afraid of marriage or just don't want kids

They want to be free to do what they want when they want.
They do not want to be tied down with legal documents.

If they did come with a warning men would still accuse them of playing games.
Especially if the man went crazy over her and thought she didn't mean what she said.

You thought by now she would be...what? Ready to give up her career and everything she worked so hard for? Obviously, she wasn't. I wouldn't be either. And it seems she already told you she wasn't ready to "have a family," but you thought she would change her mind. Obviously, you thought wrong.

To answer the thread question for myself, I'm not "afraid of marriage," I just don't want it. I never did, and I never will. Why would I want to give up my career, my salary, my home, and most importantly, my freedom, to be the "traditional" wife and mother? No thank you! Freedom is better than slavery, any day of the week.

Wrong. Not wanting marriage/motherhood and being afraid of them are two different things.

Yes, I do want to be free to do what I want, when I want, as long as that doesn't include illegal activity, of course. Marriage and motherhood can and often does place serious restrictions on women's freedom, so no thanks. I intend to keep everything I have, not give it all up. Being a single, childfree career woman isn't a crime.

Sure it is, for me anyway. Not every woman wants the shackles of marriage and motherhood, no matter what some guys think.

Men have "ugly sides" too. It's one of the many reasons I'm so glad to be free from the burdens of husband and children. Freedom to do what I want, when I want is sooooooo much better.

There's no hate involved. Sure, some guys go through what has been termed "Redpill rage", but that's a phase and a natural reaction to realizing that we have and are fed a world of lies. The truth speaks for itself. Spend enough time learning what MGTOW actually is and you'd never be able to make that statement.

For many there is an anger phase, but MGTOW is not about hate. It's about reality.

...and not every man wants the shackles of a woman, no matter what some girls think. Spend enough time learning about MGTOW and it becomes clear that women always take more from the table than they put on it. However, as a female, MGTOW is not something you could ever actually understand. Seriously.

Personally, I couldn't care less why men go to MGTOW. If they want to "go their own way," why would it matter to me? I did the same thing when I decided long ago that I don't ever want the shackles and burdens of marriage and motherhood. Since I have a good education, a high-income career, and my own home, food, and clothing paid for with my own salary, I'm not "dependent on" any man for anything. I keep my home exactly the way I like it, with no annoying man or kids messing everything up all the time. That's a life of financial freedom, and I'm not giving that up for any guy, ever.

I don't see why any MGTOW guy would have an issue with that. But if you do, it's not my problem.

Great, then there's really no problem, is there. Whether it's a woman or a man, each person is free to reject the lifescript of marriage and parenthood if she/he doesn't want it. As I said before, freedom to do what I want, whenever I want, is soooooo much better than being stuck with a husband and kids.
