Well, this should be interesting.

Same thing happened to me on a freeway but since it wasn't curved, I didn't run off.

I can totally see how this happened. As for his leaving the scene.....bad move on Mikey's part. Should have found his cell phone and called the cops.
Bet his wife ripped him a new one for driving while tired.

Michael should've been driving one of his Cup cars. It would have not been able to go fast enough to flip!

Who says race car drivers are not athletes? This bum managed to outrun the cops over a mile back to his house while drunk out of his mind! Show me one ironman who can match that!

COME ON FOLKS, I'VE READ WHAT'S ON FOX, HEARD WHAT THEY REPORTED ON TV AND READ WHAT WAS IN THIS MORNINGS PAPER AND NOTHING WAS SAID INDICATING ALCOHOL WAS INVOLVED. WAS IT A BAD DECISION TO WALK HOME AFTERWARD? YES, PROBABLY WAS BUT BECAUSE HE DID DOESN'T AUTOMATICLY MAKE HIM GUILTY OF ANYTHING MORE THAN MAKING A MISTAKE. DON'T THROW STONES, YOU MAY LIVE IN A GLASS HOUSE.

Better that he left the scene and not be available for about 17 hours then nobody can say that alcohol was involved, huh?
Better to run on home and avoid the witness that stopped to help since you are sleepy, huh? Your vehicle is turned up on its side along the side of the road but nobody should care because it is off of the highway and it shouldn't pose any real danger for at least the next 17 hours.
Sure, three or four days should give him plenty of time to rehearse a good excuse, maybe throw in a few words about the sympathy he should get since he said something nice about how this could happen to young drivers as well as adults. This guy has been using the same MO forever. And speaking of glass houses, he has been chunking boulders at them for years. Oh, by the way, even though OJ's glove would not slide on his hand like a catfish coated with vaseline.....dont automatically make him innocent either.

Apparently Mikey's driving on the public roads is just as bad as on the track. Waltrip was no doubt drunk, but the cops let him off easy. NASCAR should suspend this fool; Toyota should fire the buffoon.

This story smells worse than Fulton's Fish Market on a hot summer day. The police couldn't find him at his home @ 2:30 sat morning, so the cop didnt go back to the house til 8 the next night? This would have been national news saturday morning. "Michael Waltrip Missing: Wrecked bloody car found on the side of the highway" If he wasnt home 40 min after the wreck, where did he go? He said he walked home. Your telling me that in 40 min, he walked home 1 mile, tended to his wounds, then fell sound asleep that he didnt here the commation at his house when the cops showed up? Why didnt the cops notify his wife? His Brother? "Mikey had an accident and we cant locate him" His wherabouts for 17 hours are unaccounted for, and this wasnt reported for 4 days. Sounds like a cover up to me.

Boy you just don't get it. He is guilty of leaving the scene of an accident.I don't know where you live but in WIS they slap the cuffs on you and take you away.He could have killed someone the big dummy. Maybe you guy's will get it . I would like to know if they gave him a breath test like they would have to anyone else. He drives home like he drives a race car. You guy's can say what you want but there no excuse for what he did. These guy's have such big ego's they think they can get away with anything. Mikey and Kurt Busch should start hanging together.

Come on Renee ,If your hubby came home like that if he wasn't drunk you would have enough brains to call the cops. What is Buffy retarded too ? Or are they trying to hide something. What really gets me is just because of their status they think they can get away with it. His sponsers should drop his butt. But hey Kurt Busch got a slap on the hand too. Later Darlin

Why does everybody always want to put people in jail. There is not even room for all the violent one's, the burglers, So Mikey tore a car up. Big deal. Some people can drive drunk and survive, no problem to anybody. But nobody can drive while they are asleep. I have never put a dent in a car from drinking, I turned one over while asleep, tore up a couple cause I was mad. They are still making them. Don't be so quick to judge, think about some of the crap you have gotten away with.

"Some people can drive drunk and survive, no problem to anybody." Are you advocating drunk driving!? That is possibly the dumbest comment i have ever heard. Now I am the last person to criticize someone's opinion, I understand that people come from different walks of life and everyone doesn't see eye-to-eye, but your remarks make absolutely no sense. You are comparing apples and oranges. Driving drunk and driving while tired are two completely different scenarios. When you are tired, you still have the awareness to pull over and take a nap if you want...when driving drunk this rarely, if ever, crosses the driver's mind (believe me, I've driven drunk enough, and I regret every single time). You seem to think that driving drunk isn't as bad as driving while tired...I don't understand your logic. Could you please explain how one is worse than the other, and if one is, how can you say that drunk driving is safer!? Now as I stated, I've driven drunk many a time, but I would never advocate it. Falling asleep at the wheel is an accident...getting behind the wheel when you are drunk is not. The drunk driver is completely aware that what he is doing is illegal.

They couldn't find him for 6 hours???

They should get their lies straight before they go talking to the media..

Charlotte Observer...

Ty Norris quote...

"He said he woke up and his car was off in the gravel," Norris said. "His car shot across the road and wrecked. He was pretty stunned and sitting there trying to figure out what to do. Out where he lives, cell phones don't work that well, so he walked to his house."

----------

And he didn't call the police at home either !! And a half hour later he wouldn't answer the door !!!

Gotta have time for that Grey Goose to wear off !!

Keep on worshiping your pathetic, loser "Hero"

I am not a Michael Waltrip fan but nobody deserves this kind of talk. If there was alcohol involved they would have said so. You people are terrible and clean up your own life before you start on somebody's else.
