In yesterday's breaking news article the store was called "Kinko's." In today's published article the store is called the "Arcata FedEx Office store."

Umm, the store is called FedEx Kinko's. The two companies merged several years ago. There's a sign out front. Read it. Or, call the store to do fact checking.

Do you do fact checking at the Times-Standard?

> The Humboldt County Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team...

Chris, you need to learn the difference between the words "ordinance" and "ordnance." An Ordinance Disposal Team might be useful, but its mission would be to repeal useless (or dangerous) municipal laws.

Do we think this is form some Home grown terrorist? Or maybe a muslim terrorist? Who else would put a bomb in public? Pranksters? That seems pretty elaborate. Why bomb a FedEx store or send a bomb to Berkly? Where was the "BOMB" left at the location? What is the "FAKE ADDRESS" on the "BOMB". What did the employees say?

Did you at the TS notice I have a LOT more questions that you may want to answer. Or is TS just sensationalizing the news??????????

Do you do YOUR fact checking before making snide comments, Umm? It's right on the company website that "FedEx Kinko's is now FedEx Office". The sign is outdated so that's not TS's fault.

As for everyone else commenting here, if this was a bomb and had blown up you'd all be complaining that it wasn't taken seriously. Sure it was probably not a bomb but they're just doing the job they were hired for.

Critical thinking is absent from these forums.

"Critical thinking is absent from these forums."

Critical is present, thinking is scarce.

Will we ever know what was actually in the box?

The call the bomb squad for this?
Seems pretty obvious that at least a hundred packages a day are shipped out of Humboldt with weed in them. I knew guys in high school that sent the stuff to relatives all the time, and they always used a fake return address.
Weird.
Anyone read that article a month or so ago where the toy store in SoCal got a teddy bear filled with weed? It was addressed to someone in CO, but the address was incorrect and the sender used a toy store's address as the return address. Store owner thinks it's odd he gets a "return to sender" package that he didn't mail and opens it up. There's a "lumpy" teddy bear inside (thing was like 3 feet tall!) so he called the cops. Cops found weed inside. They never brought the bomb squad in.
Did APD have some new toys they wanted to play with??? Anyone know the last time there was a legitimate bomb in Arcata or Humboldt for that matter?

Just curious why, if the package was dropped off at 5:30pm, the block was evacuated at 1?

On the money! Not only is "critical" thinking lacking, many of these posters can't even "connect the dots" let alone comprehend what they read.
