Why is the medical profession angling to eliminate the Doctor/Patient confidentiality? Is it a political ploy, or just a 'CYA' maneuver to make sure they aren't sued wrongfully?
My doctor has a 'scribe' at her side all the time, and to my knowledge, scribes aren't constrained by D/P-C. So, I have demanded that the scribe not be allowed in my room when I have an appointment. Doc has complied half the time, but insists that it is 'proper'. I tell her if she fears me, then she can have a nurse, or even Two nurses at hand, but No non-medical people in my consult.
Where would this go? I don't know. Where Could it go? Well, if they get rid of the doc/patient thing, then how far behind is Spousal privilage? Or Lawyer/client?
BTW, I am not shy. I'm past middle age and don't give a tinkers damn who sees my wrinkled old ass. What I worry about is some jerk sitting in a bar, telling his cronies about the old guy who said,....

This isn't just about their agenda to end privacy. Last year my doc dumped my urine sample because her assistant thought that there was alcohol in the sample. Six years ago I told my doc that there were/are times when I overexert myself, blood turns up in my urine, and sometimes in my stool. She 'forgot' about that and they dumped it without checking it for anything. I told her that the red coloring was blood. Didn't matter. I ended up without my painkillers for two months because of that gaff. Back in May, the 'new' nurse took careless notes while attemptiing to take a urine sample. I told her( the nurse) that because I stood outside for forty minutes in the sun, it was a hundred and six that day, I was xdehydrated. She didn't write that down, but speculated that I was hiding something because I 'refused' to give a sample. She wrote That down, of course, and mu doc cut off my painkillers for another two months. Now that I'm back on them, I'm thinking that Maybe they gave me a placebo because the pills aren't working anymore.
For three years, doc has offered to 'up' my pain meds. I've told her each time that once you get past a certain point, they stop working, and you just end up with an addiction problem. Told her that I will stick with the same level and work around the limitations. Does that sound like a med abuser to you?

I think that at least part of the problem is that there are too many offices with medical staff that make mistakes. I've got a short list of places I will not use anymore because of the problems they had, everything from not writing down what I said during the visit to misdiagnosing me. It's a problem.

'Federally funded' should be a heads-up with these places. My doctor doesn't hhave the 'PHD' behind her name, just 'DO', whatever that means. Anyway, between the doc and her nurses, their incompetance is unbelievable. I'd go somewhere else, but they're the only ones who take Medical, aside from the emergency rooms, which are chock full of illegal mexicans.
