A study shows belief in an angry God is associated with a variety of mental illnesses.

These are the results found in the April 2010 edition of "Journal of Religion and Health." The study conducted by Marymont Manhatten College professor Nava Silter, used data from a 2010 Baylor religious survey of U.S. adults to examine the link between beliefs and anxiety disorder, like social dysfunction, paranoia, obsession and compulsion. The finding support the evolutionary trait for that part of the brain that detects threats, and creates the kinds of social dysfunction's found in the study.

More evidence that "religion poisons everything."

Believers in a punitive God are more likely to suffer from social anxiety, paranoia, obsession and compulsion than the general population, while those who believe in a benevolent God are less likely to suffer from such disorders.

Again, blame it on anyone or anything other than the person in question. Got it!

Angry God doesn't make his followers anxious, paranoid, obsessive and/or compulsive, He just appeals to those who already are...

Sorry, thats what the experts found, I think I'll go with their findings. And nice to see you agree that if a God exists, he/she/it/ is an Angry God.

I see you refuse to join in any real adult dialog, only childish rants. How old are you, 12?

Here's another observation you'll most likely avoid. Anyone who truly believes in a God that performs miracles, answers prayers, and interacts with humans is also mentally ill. They have an serious mental disease called DELUSIONAL DISORDER. It's a disorder that features the inability to tell the difference between what is real and what is only imagined.

Just curious, are you infected by this dreaded disease? If so, you really should seek some professional help very soon. Just a suggestion!!!!

No issues here, just aware of the poison that religion is to our society. It always has been, and needs to be eradicated just like any other disease.

Any thoughts on how we might accomplish this eradication?

Bonkers. Mental Illness is to do with Brain Chemistry not beliefs. Bunch of bollocks in yet another troll thread.

If I believe that demons are under my bed, and chase me every night, am I sane? If I believe the fish Gods from Neptune, came down in my backyard and whisked me off to their planet and told me to be their ambassador, would I be considered sane? Especially if I set up a platform in the town square and lectured about these fish gods. Delusional disorder has nothing to do with brain chemistry, it is simply the inability to distinguish the real form that only imagined. Look it up!!!!

Religion is poison, I agree with that. But it does not cause Mental Illness.
