as michael said, there are christians by name and christians by choice or faith. Stop condemning all christians just because of some ppl. The bible clearly states 'Love your neighbour as yourself."

When I see "christians" doing that, then perhaps I'll retract my previous comment. Until then, just as you folks do when denying other's their basic rights, majority rules.

I think the ones who post on topix and are anti christian are ones who use their interpretation of the 66 books of the bible to weaken God and make themselves look strong. They like pushover Christians who are submissive in every way so they can steamroll right over them with their weak thoughts. It shows a bit of a self esteem problem on the part of this type of person if you ask me. They also for the most part make everything political. Jesus avoided politics except to make people think that he was here to be a political savior. He wasn't and politics is not the path to whatever bliss one might have pictured in their minds as to the way things should be done. However, true believers for the most part don't hate they just want you to consider the path that will lead to everlasting life. I doubt that you have had anything shoved down your throat. Noone can change anyones mind by force here. Gentle persuasion is all I see in Topix.net . Peace!
Anti-Christians or atheists are not attacking Christianity. They simply don't understand why Christians must use the Bible or "God's will", to justify hating gays, Muslims, pro-choice people, liberals, etc. Personally, I don't think it makes any sense either! In discussing topics on this site, using the Bible to justify hate is being irrational and it is not a legitimate reason.

There are Christians like that out there and I happen to be one of them. Just refer to my comments on any thread and you will see that I'm one of few liberal Christians in this country. I've seen a few liberal Christians in the threads about homosexuals. And it's funny, because many conservatives call me an atheist simply because I'm a liberal, without even bothering to ask me my religion. Some conservatives just assume that all liberals are "Godless" or atheists. But then again, I'm used to it, as their behavior is so predictable.

Is that fair?
Sound slike a good topic for a new thread

I know there are people like you out there. And it doesn't matter if you're "liberal" or not. What i've seen all my life from fanatical christians is hate, anger, misery, etc.
I don't ever want to be that person. A person who degrades another group of people based on their bible or religion. It's sickening.

I am just one but the many Christians that I know are warm loving and sensitive people who just are available to be ready to answer for the hope that is in them with meeness and fear. In a public forum like this, doing that will bring a varied response. To chose to counter respond is, when handled correctly, an edifying experience to some and to others it is considered being narrow minded and brainwashed. That kind of accusation can be handled by a counter persuasion but hate is seldom what I would clasify that as. There are some exceptions and there are some people out there who do hate christians. Didn't you see the hunt christian threads out there. That should have been stopped by topix.net as it is counter to their terms of service policy. Read it sometime.

HA HA,yeah loving truth is evil.
Actually it's a matter of you calling good evil and evil good.In reality it is very rare for a Christian to hate in the way you speak of.
You can continue to misrepresnt Christians at the risk of being bigoted.

"God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn its people. He sent him to save them! No one who has faith in God's Son will be condemned. But everyone who doesn't have faith in him has already been condemned for not having faith in God's only Son.

The light has come into the world, and people who do evil things are judged guilty because they love the dark more than the light. People who do evil hate the light and won't come to the light, because it clearly shows what they have done."

Reason number 2467 why you can't get me into a church.

My sister's house burned down, all gone, weather so cold water froze so fire fighters could not control the fire. She had living in her home a daughter and son-in-law plus their five children as they had lost their home and had no place to go.
The daughter and son-in-law both of whom go to church every week and claim to be good Christians ended up sharing a remodeled parsonage that a local church donated. The son-in-law and daughter had gone through the town claiming it was their home that was destroyed when in fact they were not the owners. They were given several thousands of dollars from the local citizens to rebuild their house, the problem you see is the did not own the land. So here they have to elderly people (one with cancer) stuck in a house with them belonging to a church. The son-in-law and daughter try to force (and yes I mean force, as in violence) and abuse the parents into signing over the property. They would not do so, so the son-in-law goes to the church doing his I am a good Christian thing. The preacher comes to the house and tells my sister she has to leave (reason given they found out she smoked. This coming only a couple of hours after the son-in-law refused to take the father to the hospital as he was not feeling well. They drove him part of the way, started the abuse again and then told him to walk back. As it ends up he had a stroke and spent over a week in the hospital. My sister and her husband are now living in a camper to which they have no electricity as the son-in-law and daughter have refused to pay their portion of the previous bill. Due to fixed income they don't have the extra and the community gave all they could afford to the wrong people.

Again, I would rather have a muslim for a friend then a Christian. The muslims are far more trustworthy people. They say what they mean and mean what they say which is more than I can say for the bulk of the Christains I have met in my life time.

You have related a horror story, and I sympathize with the elderly persons involved. The daughter and son-in-law are reprehensible and should be ousted from the church they attend; but the church can only address the issue if they are aware of it, and I'd bet they aren't.

However, it is deplorable and inexcusable that the pastor ousted an elderly, sick person as he did. His Christianity certainly is questionable. Perhaps you should tell him about his church members, the daughter and son-in-law. He needs an eye-opener.

However, your judgement that Muslims are more trustworthy than Christians is a very poor, unreasonable one. Have you forgotten the beheaded Americans in Iraq, the thousands who died on 9-11, and the atrocities committed by Muslim terrorists? How can you say they are trustworthy? They're about as trustworthy as Jeffrey Dahmer.

Your hard feelings towards the church is unjustified, for the church isn't the guilty party; so you need to put the blame where it correctly belongs. What did you expect them to do? What did you yourself do about the situation? There are many hypocrites in churches but that doesn't make the church guilty of hypocrisy. Hypocrites are everywhere. Remember the parable about the tares? The bad will be weeded out in the end and they will then receive their just rewards.

A suggestion: why don't you go to another church and relate the situation to them and ask for help for your sister and her husband? Did you report the elderly abuse to the Dept. of Human Services? There are laws against elderly abuse. What happened to your sister's husband endangered his life and it needs to be reported.

I guess you missed the part about the reasons, I believe I made a statement to the fact that this was reason number 2,487. I have been to many churchs and have found the vast majority of those that attend and call themselves Christian to be of the same cloth as the mention daugher and son-in-law. I believe that Churches in general have strayed so far from what they should be practing and teaching that I am a better person for staying away from them. I also stand by my statement about muslims. You have a limited view of only what you read in the media, I on the other hand have had the pleasure of having made friends from many different countries and many different religous views. By far the one that call themselves "Christains" are the least trustworthy of the bunch. A suggestion for you, perhaps you should try to think outside of the box some and realize that the BS the government is trying to feed you is just that BS. It serves the purpose of giving them your permission to kill others, which I find to be a completely contradictory action with the Christianity they claim to cling to. Thanks for the reply, I understand you mean well. However, real life and real Christians do no follow what you think they do.

It's amazing how often the word hate comes out of the liberals mouthes. Like hate is the only word they know.

We Christians say we love Jesus, and liberals say we hate. We Christians call sin a sin, and liberals say we hate.

We Christians disagree with liberals, and the liberlals call that hate too.

Yet! The liberals speak about their divesity plans, which only permits their own agenda of sins, and very intorant to Christianity.

This thread is a good example of their intorance and hatred for christians. Because liberals especially gays/lesbians hate Christians.

Christians are generally bashed on these threads, but nobody bashes Christians like gay/lesbians do. Gay/lesbians have more degrading names for Christians than any other group has.

So liberals especially gays/lesbians are the real experts specializing in hate, and that's why you see the word hate coming from them more than any other word, because hate is what they're best at. It's what they know best.

Their diversity plan really includes various forms of sin, because sin and hate is all they really know.

A really good title for a new thread would be. Where is the love in liberals, especially gay/lesbians. Because one thing that is absent from their diversity plan is love.

No love for any Christians who don't want to be sinners like liberals. So liberals especially gays/lebians keep bringing up the hate word, because hate is really what they feel, everytime a Christian disagrees with their sins.

OK FIRST OFF... NO ONE IS "BORN" ANY RELIGION... PEOPLE HAVE A CHOICE TO CHOOSE WICH EVER RELIGION THEY WANT... AND NEXT THE PREMIS BEHIND CHRISTIANITY IS THAT JESUS CHRIST WAS KILLED FOR OUR SINS SO THAT CHRISTIANS OR PEOPLE THAT FOLOW HIM WILL GO TO HEAVEN... WHEN A CHRISTIAN SAYS THAT YOU WILL NOT GO TO HEAVEN THAT IS BECAUSE THE CHRISTIAN FAITH BELIEVES THAT IF YOU ARE NOT A FOLOWER IN CHRIST YOU WILL NOT GO TO HEAVEN... NOW THAT DOESN'T MEAN WE HATE ANYONE... HELL I AM DATING A JEWISH GIRL.. AND I HATE THAT SHE IS JEWISH BECAUSE SHE WILL NOT BE IN HEAVEN WITH ME BUT THATS WHY I AM CONSTANTALY TRYING TO "CONVERT" HER. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A VERRY VERRY CONDESENDING COMMENT, AND IT HURTS MANY PEOPLE... HOW WOULD A HESPANIC PERSON FEEL IF I SAYS "DO MEXICANS CHOOSE TO BE LAZY OR ARE THEY BORN THAT WAY" (now obviously i don't feel that way) i just htink that this topic is horible... and yes im 14 but ive got alot to say...
