I am just posting a couple clips from the article as the board would not let me post it in its entirety.

The girl fell pregnant aged 11 after having sex with a 15-year-old on a drunken night out with friends in Edinburgh last August. He has been charged with statutory rape.

The girl today told a national newspaper how she was "really excited" to be having a baby. Her mother said she was "proud" of her daughter.

In an interview with The Scottish Sun, the girl, who smokes up to 20 roll-up cigarettes a day and started drinking aged ten, said she hoped the baby would be a boy.

She said: "I am really excited and looking forward to being a mum. I can't wait to take the baby swimming and out for walks in the pram.

The girl told how she feared she might be pregnant after having unprotected sex with the boy after a drunken night out with friends in Edinburgh last August. "We didn't use a condom but I didn't think about getting pregnant. I wasn't bothered at the time," she continued. "He knew it was my first time and I was nervous so he asked if I was all right.

"I slept with him because I was drunk and because I wanted to. I don't regret it, because if I had not had sex with him I wouldn't have had my baby."

The West Lothian girl's mother, who has not been named, told the newspaper: "She's grown up a lot in the last few months and her pregnancy has brought us closer together. At first I wasn't too happy about becoming a gran but now I'm used to the idea I'm really looking forward to having another girl around the house.

"My daughter is already like a mum to her little brothers, so she knows how hard this is going to be. I know she'll give motherhood a good try - and she knows I'll be here for her if she needs help.

"We had a big argument and I ended up locking myself in my room and then running away to a friend's house. It was really hard, but it has brought me and my mum closer together, which is good. "At the weekend, mum and I are going shopping to get stuff for the baby.

She said she began smoking when she was nine years old and started drinking just a year later.

She said: "I can give up smoking at any time, but I don't find it affects my pregnancy. I also don't drink any more."

The eight months pregnant mum-to-be is reported to have quit school following a string of exclusions for fighting with fellow pupils.

That poor baby is doomed!
Maybe they should have gotten that girl a puppy instead?

After having read the article, I don't think either the child or the child's mother are responsible enough to care for even a puppy.

What were her parents thinking to allow that child to smoke and drink? Don't get me wrong, I myself am a smoker, but both of my sons already know what will happen to them if I EVER catch them smoking!

It may be hypocritical of me, but I would rather be a hypocrit than to ever allow either of my children to take up a habit that is harder to break than heroin.

In addition to the smoking and drinking, what in the world was she doing out "partying" in Edinburgh at the age of 11? Do her parents have any type of control over their own child?

Having visited Scotland, I know things are very different over there, but this takes the cake.

Dogwood, I think that neither of them are fit to have children in their care.
This poor baby, and the other poor children that are still in the care of that mother are doomed if they are not taken away soon.
I dont understand why they are still in their care.

I wonder how long it will take for the novelty of a new baby to wear off on the little girl?

I agree. Where were her parents? How did they not know this was going on (the smoking & drinking)?

I would venture about 2.2 nanoseconds after the onset of the first labor pain. If not then, about the time that she can't go out and party with her friends because she has no one to watch the baby.

A sadder situation, I don't think I have ever read about, either here or abroad (current world situation, notwithstanding).

I actually found an update to the original story which took place last year.
This past July she was held over night in jail for being found drunk by the police.

She was taken out of her home, and her child (a girl) was put into foster care.

As awful as it is it is probably better for the child.

Anything is better than being with a smoking, drinking, school drop out, 12 year old mother.

The poor child is gonna have downs syndrome...
This is why abortion SHOULD be legal so women like THAT can't possibly have a child.

If my son or daughters EVER drank or smoked under MY roof, or if I ever found out they did.
I'll put away ALL my beliefs in not hitting kids.
I'm sorry, but drinking, smoking, sexing, ect. under your parents' responsibiltiy is like a SLAP in the face. When a child does that it's pretty much saying:
"You've been a great role model mom and thanks for putting a roof over my head, clothes on my back and food in my stomach!"

Kids BEG and BEG for responsibility. Like a puppy. You hear: "Oh mommy please please let me have a puppy! I'll take GREAT care of it!"
2 months later YOU are taking care of a puppy...

Eventually, this girl is gonna get pregnant again, get BORED with her child, and pass it off to mom.

It is kind of a different story with pregnancy with kids.
If my son Jackson told me he fathered a baby, I would FLIP the fu<k out,
but I would MAKE him take care of that child.

If one of my daughters EVER came to me, I would FREAK the hell out! Of course, who wouldn't?
And I would have to listen to what they wanted to do. Abortion would be a good option, but as the pro-choice mothe I am, I would give her he choice and support her..

The reason it is differne t with sons and daughters with me is my son isnm't carrying the baby, so whatever it's birth mother decides, goes.
She keeps it, he's taking care of it.

That's creepy, scary, and almost unbelievable. At least her mom didn't kick her out, like some parents do. I feel sorry for the girl, being allowed to drink, smoke, and have sex. Maybe her mom wasn't there for her and she wanted attention.

Now that is the DANG truth!:)

Horrifying though... I have a nine year old. She's so far from what this girl is that it's not even remotely possible... but someone should have still been treating her as the little girl she truly is!

This is liberalism at its finest. Kids are in charge, parents neglectful, tons of careless sex, no morality, no consequences.....free for all.....maybe she was just following paris hilton and lindsey lohans examples. And liberals have the nerve to mock conservatives and their viginal beliefs....ha ha, who is pregnant and full of diseases??????? Conservatives aren't the ones prancing around in colored ribbons, demanding money for all the sexually transmitted diseases that liberals spread around like fire.

Actually, it looks like that baby was still with her smoking, drinking, school drop out, 12 year old mother... apparently the daughter was taken into foster care after the article ran about how she was smokin' it up and drinking and became pregnant and her mother was proud of her! She AND her baby were put in the same foster home. Seriously... disturbing beyond words. I can't even imagine.......
