Yes the wonders of "civilization" probably will lure them but as in all things, some times we let our weak side rule us... Breastfeeding should not offend people. If it does people just need to look the other way and respect the lactating mom.As for noyses and smels, the same, just a good mom doing her job. Yes there are nasty people everywhere, some times you can't help that. Just like I have seen "High" class people at expensive restaurants going to take a crap and not wash their hands when going back to eat. Or sneezing and not covering up.What will you do about those? Low class women are those that have no concern about their appearance or the consideration of others around them. They haven't the capacity to plan ahead which is why they nurse openly in public. Historically, breastfeeding has been viewed as something for the lowly which is why wet nurses were hired but I don't know if even they would nurse in public. Wet nurses have been around for centuries which must explain why the public display of this activity can bring about a social disturbance. The fact you rant about class tells me you have none. If you were polite, no one would look upon you with disgust. btw: people who do not practice the principles of basic hygiene do not have class. How could you be confused in terms of their social position?

There are so many options. a mother cannot guarantee when her child is going to be hungry so if you were in a restuarant which would you rather have a screaming child that everyone yells at you to keep quiet? or a breastfed baby in public that is quiet? you cannot tell a mother how to fed her baby that is your opinion just don't look. but we mothers will continue to fed in public as long as it is legal.

Thank you! I've seen several women feeding their infants and ALL of them have either put a baby blanket over their shoulder and fed the baby underneath, or brought the baby just under their top to feed. Whats the big deal?!?

I am thinking it is do to being a product of a bad upbringing, also for the lack of breast milk as a baby.

I would rather a baby being quiet & fed then to hear it cry. It's bad enough having to listen to other people talking on the cell phones

Some people are not comfortable with my hair being shown in public either. Should I refrain from wearing my hair uncovered? How about not offending those whom do not eat meat? Should I refrain from doing so just to make THEM feel comfortable? My child COULD be sustained via expressed milk, however, why should I HAVE to force him to do so simply because a few people, whom will NEVER be harmed by my feeding my child, simply think it's gross?

EASY MONEY wrote: <quoted text> If you think that having to see some woman pull out a bloated blue vein brest is wonderful, then you keep eating at JoJos truck stop. When I go to a restaurant, and I'm talking a restaurant not some fast food joint, that sort of behavior is not wanted or tolerated. But most importantly why does a parent seem to think that people want to see or hear a child in a restaurant in the first place, leave the kid at home, can't afford a baby sitter, don't have the kid, I don't want to see it, hear it or smell it. Here's a solution for YOU.....stay home.
