Oh. My favourite god is Darth Vader
My overall, ultimate god I'd worship if I wanted to worship a fictional character is; Buffy. The Phoenix being a very close second. Both of them actually. Ah! Decisions!

Thor is my favourite Norse god but ties with a couple for male Marvel gods.

I agree with you re Odin but they did get it right in the beginning of the first movie, he's too patriarchal for my liking but I give him points for not being as much of a womanising bastard as Yaweh, El and Zeus.

I would go for John Petrucci as being one of the best deities.

Yeah. They have Odi all wrong. He is a warrior god, not a sickly old fart! I would have made the movie about Odin. In fact,.when Thor was getting his asskicked, I would have Odin come down in a blaze of fire and have him say to Thor: "Let me show you wat Daddy can do!"

<quoted text>2167 catholic dioceses in the world and you said 65 have had priest molest a child.. That would suggest 3% of the dioceses have a priest who molest children. Yes, this is horrible, but each dioceses has many priest a total of 410,000 and out of that number, 400 have been accused of molesting children. If you take that number then you are going to have less than .001 percent.. Al though this should NEVER happen, it is not a infestation either.. I bet more cops molest than priest or more scientist..
Are you an apologist for the Catholic church? That's brave. I have a few questions for you. I'd like to know how faith affects your moral judgment:

[1] Since the Catholic church is a known pedophilic sex syndicate, would you say that people that give it money are enablers of its sexual crimes against children - like somebody who purchases kiddie porn? Aren't they actually helping to underwrite trafficking in children? If your answer is no, why not?

[2] Are the priests, bishops, cardinals and popes who turned a blind eye, reassigned priests, or paid hush money to cover up their crimes and enable them to commit more any less criminal than the offending pedophile? Should they not also be in court and prison? If your answer is no, why not?

[3] Since foreign heads of state like Noriega and Hussein that merely threatened Americans were taken by force, should the Vatican, which facilitates the molestation of American boys, not also be raided by Navy Seals or UN forces, and the pope frog marched to justice like Hussein and Noriega? If your answer is no, what makes the pope an exception? His skin color? That he says "Jesus, Jesus" a lot?

[4] Knowing what we know about the way the Catholic church covers up the crimes of its priests, would you recommend that the mother of an adolescent boy join the Catholic church, let her son become an altar boy, and allow him to spend unsupervised time with a priest? And if such a child were molested, what is the proper punishment for that parent?

No, the crocodilians are not dinosaurs. They are only distantly related to them as reptiles. IIRC, crocodiles first appeared about the same time as the dinosaurs did, about 250 million years ago. I'm too danged tire right now to look it up.
I have also heard Komodo dragons referred to as "living dinosaurs" or "descendants of dinosaurs". Also false.
The only descendants of dinosaurs we know of are birds.
Thanks 4 that!

I love Mexico. We have a place in a small village on the west coast where I plan to retire to in a few years. It is totally anarchy. I love it. There is no crime, no violence everyone respects each other, exactly how anarchy should be. Most importantly there are no cops. That scares the shit out of the authoritarians and state-ists who worship the American government and are too stupid to know anything with out some official scumbag telling them what to do.
I hope you'll be as happy with Mexico as we have been. My wife still returns to visit her father, but now that my parents are gone, I have no reason to return, and don't.

And you are correct. We feel much more relaxed here than we did our last few years living in the States. I bet you will, too. Life is simpler, we fell more at ease, the weather is better (we live a mile up in the mountains), and the economy may not be too good for earning, but it's excellent for spending.

It's also a relief to be psychologically disentrained from America. I've gone from being a political junkie of sorts to a guy who just doesn't need to pay attention any more, and I don't except for where it interests me, which is limited to political Christianity, which is mostly good news.

I think that's awesome even though I don't care for either.
I think that's especially true in Victoria. But here too.

I should clarify my comment about Mexico being good for spending, but not for earning. I meant a salary. Interest income is much better here than the States.

Hi Rosa. Before I answer, I have been meaning to ask you, have you ever visited SA? You know some Afrikaans phrases, did you learn it here?
Oh and yes. Salties will tangle with sharks and I know they would win most battles. However, fully grown Great Whites are a bridge too far for even the biggest salties
Hi DF. Not yet, but I'd like to and see a lion in the wild. My sister has been to South Africa, she loved it!

I learned Afrikaans from the South Africans who live here, also a bit of Zulu. Then there Google Translate...

I suppose there isn't too much footage when the Great White wins the battle. It would be a brave soul who filmed that clash of the Titans!!

Rosa, you continue giving me subjects I love to talk about :)
Crocodillians were around since before the extinction of the dinosaurs, as earliest fossils are dated around 80 million year. However, the clade Pseudosuchia (crocodile like creatures), existed around the Permian/Triassic extiction event, some 250 milliin years ago. We can say that that is where the clade started.
Their relationship to dinosaurs? The crocodillians are archosaurids, just like dinosaurs and modern birds are. The crocodiles were as close as kissing cousins with the dinosaurs.
However, the closest family of the dinosaurs, as well as true modern dinosaurs? Nope. Birds are directly evolved from therapod dinosaurs (two legged animals with an S-shaped neck, a wishbone, and often coated in feathers).
So next time you carve a nice fat Turkey or chicken,,,, just rememer what his great great great great great great great grampa could do to you
Far out! I have seen Jurassic Park.

At least with crocs they only live in and around rivers. Everyone knows not to swim in the Top End, there are signs everywhere warning the tourists.

We share some uncommon opinions, this being the third: patriotism as secular religion, the American octopus and the benefits of expatriation, and now this.

Here is my take on that:

Yes, it's funny how God always seems to be on both sides in a war - according to them.

Here too many of them died for "King and country". Anzac Day is coming up.
