The Bible doesn't describe witches like Harry Potter, it describes them more like Diane Warwick. Fortune tellers, omen interpreters, false prophets, charmers, mediums, etc.
It even says they can't do real magic:
"The magicians tried by their secret arts to produce gnats, but they could not."
Daniel answered the king and said,“No wise men, enchanters, magicians, or astrologers can show to the king the mystery that the king has asked"
Even the "ignorant Bronze Age goat herders" knew that magic is just an act.
You can make God "create a gnat" for you ?

No ?

Then your deity doesn't exist by your own criteria.

Mucking four on.

The Jews' own self-reported history is just as rife with violence and ethnic cleansing. Most of the Old Testament is just Jewish revenge-porn. They only stopped when they were disbursed into the diaspora. But no sooner were they given their own state then they were back to their use of violence again. So between the Jews and the Muslims there is little chance for peace ever I'm afraid. I wish that were not so, but again, religion makes everything worse.

Using a self-professed magic ability to create gnats is very, very different to what you are proposing.

If I claimed I was God, I should be able to prove that to you by performing some kind of miracle that only God could do.

If I claimed to be able to perform magic, then I should be able to prove that to you by using magic in someway.

Creating a gnat would be a good test for a magician. Hell, anything magical would be proof enough that magicians exist and magic is real. But what do we have? Thousands and thousands of years of these fake magicians and witches that can't do anything except dress-up weird with a whole bunch of black make up, perform magic tricks like David Copperfield, and hate God.

That's the Really Real Witch! for ya.

Faulty logic. What God would submit to His created beings? What purpose would it serve for a God (any God) to produce a gnat when they're so plentiful?

Assuming that a deity doesn't exist simply on the basis that the deity is requested to produce something and doesn't do it doesn't make sense.

You're jumping to conclusions based upon Association and ASSumptions. Not very logical or reasonable for those who claim to be intellectually superior.

I haven't threatened Kaitlin, nor would I. She's intelligent. I haven't threatened Susie D. She's intelligent. I haven't threatened Christine. She's intelligent. I'm not going to threaten you. You're delusional.

An empty threat.

First, it's not like I am going to go all the way to Australia just to push you off a horse.

Second, your ass is way too fat to be on that poor horse's back.

It was implied in your mention about the way the topix mods would view my earlier comment. I bet you had a lot of friends on the school playground. Well, those who were still your friends after tattling for misconstrued slights and assumed threats. Paranoia has served you well. Not.

Thanks for clearing that up.
When one adds their own interpretation from the one that was intended especially in a belief system to justify their stance then, yes!

It is as real as any supernatural belief that any person that believes in the supernatural has.

That includes all deity beliefs, yours too

Strange how you call God "Yahweh" and you ca Zeus "God".
Yahweh is Hebrew for "god", you know.....
By all rights and purposes, if you're gonna call God "Yahweh", you also call Zeus that.
That's no more valid a claim as saying - Ar aR - is used by an English speaking person to refer to a specific person on a internet forum, and then claim - Ar aR - is a name in the English language for any person on an internet forum.

Noun: Yahweh
1. A name for the God of the Old Testament as transliterated from the Hebrew consonants YHVH

WordWeb Pro 7.02

The four letters, YHVH, each represent a distinct aspect of Deity: Y (Yod) representing Deity as Father; H (Heh) representing Deity as Mother; V (Vau) representing Deity as Son; and the second H (Heh) representing Deity as Daughter

That reflects the polytheistic period in early Judaism. Canaanites had a similar polytheistic pantheon; El-Asherah-Baal-Astarte. The Canaanite culture predates the Hebrew/Judaic culture, and is where much of early Judaic beliefs originated.

The Hebrew were originally an offshoot of the Canaanites. That's what the archaeological evidence shows, which is history.

"There are signs that Yahweh was worshipped as Yah at Ebla (2,350 BCE) and as Yaw at Ugarit (1800-1200 BCE), where he was one of the Elohim (Canaanite 'lhm)- the sons of El"
http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Yah...

Asherah was represented by wooden columns or poles in early Judaic temples, before being banished. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asherah_pole

Examples are here http://bible.cc/2_kings/21-7.htm , and here. http://bible.cc/deuteronomy/16-21.htm

Solomon's Temple had an Asherah pole. Asherah is mentioned in the OT 39 times with over 80 references to the god Baal as well as the goddess Ashtoreth 10 times.

The Hebrews/Judaism merely adopted their deities(pre-exilic) and deity(post-exilic) from Canaanite sources, while also incorporating aspects from other culture's deities encountered along the way.

The historical and archaeological evidence, shows, has shown in the past, and will continue to show in the foreseeable future.

For example: "In the case of the Hebrews, the cult of Yah, or Yahu, or Yahweh, was simply a local worship sometimes aggrandised by the King, adopted and documentally imposed on the fictitious history of the nation long afterwards." M. Lang, Making of Religion, pp. 190-8.

Not quite. Actually far from that.

"Likened to a "lightning rod" by the journal Science (2007), Prof. Finkelstein is famous for his unconventional way of interpreting biblical history: he puts emphasis on the days of the biblical authors in the 7th century B.C.E. and theorizes that ancient rulers such as David and Solomon, who lived centuries earlier, were "tribal chieftains ruling from a small hill town, with a modest palace and shrine."
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/11/...

"Israel's Antiquities Authority (IAA) has announced that archaeologists have unearthed a temple within walking distance of Jerusalem that appears to be approximately 2,750 years old. Artifacts found inside the temple suggest that despite the ban on idol worship at the time, those who visited the temple continued to engage in such practices.
(...)
At the time that the temple was in use, a period during the King David era, the First Temple, in Jerusalem had already been built, and worshippers had been instructed to use it instead of other facilities to discourage the worship of various idols. Artifacts found inside the temple show that the people who visited the temple had chosen to ignore the decree and instead continued to idolize their icons as they chose. What's surprising, the researchers note, is how close the temple, and hence the ongoing idol worshiping practices, were to Jerusalem – close enough to walk."
http://phys.org/news/2012-12-archeologists-un...

It isn't quite what was depicted in the bible. I think that extends to the entirety of the bible as well.

You know - the history and the archaeological evidence known to be concerning the bible - isn't hard to find or understand.
