But you ask a stranger on a website to define a very common word.
It's usually the Topix Atheists! here that do that, so I'm a little disappointed in you.
I asked a poster who has been on Topix for a couple of years, as I have, so that would not make us "strangers".

But you can't seem to be honest enough to answer my posts with direct statements, but instead use excuses - like the one above - to "resolve" your conversations with others.

And now I've disappointed you? Awwww, did I hurt your feelings for being honest, truthful and direct?
- all of which you avoid.

What it means to be a Christian to me is the same as it is to every other Christian - to have a relationship and trust in Jesus Christ.
....but you don't trust in Jesus when he said, "to know yourself is to know the kingdom of God." Instead you believe the Bible tells you what you should know.*sighs*

Then you refuse to believe this specific teaching by Jesus:
(2) Jesus says:

(1) "The one who seeks should not cease seeking until he finds.
(2) And when he finds, he will be dismayed.
(3) And when he is dismayed, he will be astonished.
(4) And he will be king over the All."

You've been confused by a doctrine of men, instead of Jesus.

Christianity isn't about rules and regulations, it's about furthering one's beliefs and trusts in God.
Oh - now it is a trust in "God" too. First it is Jesus, now it is Jesus and God? I thought you so-called "Christians" believe Jesus is "God". Or is it that you don't believe this dogma?

You are all over the board with your belief. Try being honest for once and focus that "faith". You seem to have a problem with it.
RiversideRedneck wrote:

It means your heart and soul have been changed by God.
It means a relationship with Jesus.
It does. How does this change occur? How did "God" change your heart and soul?
- and please don't say you did this or that, because then you changed and had nothing to do with "God".

Will I find it in wikipedia? You seem to think this is the goto place for answers instead of results.

When did this change occur to you? How did it occur to you? Did you videotape it? Film the change? Film "God" changing your heart and soul?

Do you have proof that you even have a soul? You claim you do with your post.

Like I said - step-up and be honest with others, that is where the change you speak of actaully begins.
- Yes RR - understanding your own lies and mistruths and accepting that you've stated them and are correcting them will only change your "heart and soul".

No "God" involved.

It's okay, I'm not going to change just because you are afraid to admit you've misled others with false information.

So, I'll continue to call you out on your claims.

What's the difference if I believe what the Bible teaches Jesus says or what Gnosticism say He says?

As long as I'm following Jesus' teachings, I can't go wrong.

But you sit here and bitch that you can't trust the Bible, only Gnosticism.

I ain't hearin ya.

Education is not intelligence.
Art is expression. A communication. Kind of primal unless you go to art school and follow a school of it.
A graffiti artist with an understanding of the times would probably do the best interpreting of those old images.
Who said education was intelligence? Oh I see you are simply trying to obfuscate my words, fair enough, so long as we understand your methods.

Were there any art schools 10 or 50 thousands years ago? I really don’t think so, so we can at least imagine those images were a kind of communication and not wallpaper.

Perhaps you have not seen the work of some of the graffiti artists on the Paris metro.

A historian with a grasp of the life of the people who drew the images would probably have a far better understanding of those images than a graffiti artist with no understanding.

The graffiti artist will understand the inspirations for them better. At least the ones that weren't obvious message boards. Why the compulsion was felt, and perhaps the subject matter. Those petroglyphs were more involved making than just using a spray paint can.

Visualizations are very important in human communications. Which is what you do for a living, right? They carry more impact than written words.

Is there a dyslexia of some sort associated with viewing pictures? That is a serious question.

So, you have to dumb yourself down (thereby burying your "God-given" talents) before you can understand it?

You might wish to re-examine that argument.

U know, I believe that is the key to a person maintaining faith. It is INNOCENCE, like that of a child's. It's when that innocence is lost that faith goes away with it. When we are exposed to the evils of this world it affects the way we look upon it. And today "Satan" makes sure that innocence is lost early in life by simple means like what kids see on tv and hear on the radio...and also the acts of people portrayed in media. So yea, I can agree that it takes us to really humble ourselves as a child that has all the faith in the world in order for us to truly gain understanding and wisdom. It won't take selfishness and arrogance to gain it like some of these characters think.

I think the innocence of children is more like knowing you don't know it all or have it all figured out. You keep growing and understanding.

These "cool dude" Topix atheists think they have existence all figured out from playing in this sandbox.

Thank you, but I decline to abase myself. Or stifle such intelligence as I have.

Or render myself subservient to any primitive superstition.

Which atheists (Topix or otherwise) have ever claimed to have existence "all figured out"?

I know I have not.

And you keep confusing innocence in children with wilful ignorance in adults.

Right!!, and that innocence is somewhat synonymous with the story of Adam and Eve...U know, how partaking of the "fruit" of the tree of knowledge was the so-called downfall of mankind because at that time we lost our innocence and became knowledgable of evil and wrong-doings which corrupted the pure thoughts of man...yea, same thing with today as a child that is exposed to evil will find it a bit difficult to believe there is a god that protects us from these things and most likely will therefore project their feelings outward with no INNER faith to even RECEIVE the good word!!

The graffiti artist will understand todays world, not thw world of 20,000 years ago, he will have no experience or understanding of the period in exactly the same was as you haven’t

Can’t say I have heard of dyslexia of pictures, it’s kind of hard to understand what one person sees compared to another’s view anyway.

See, that's the "selfishness" and "arrogance" that I hinted on in my post that U're responding to!!...did U catch it?!...selfishness of believing that their is nothing above your own ego, or existence and arrogance to believe there is nothing above your own intelligence or intellect!...like the other gentleman and myself was in somewhat agreement with, it won't take a selfish and arrogant approach to gain understanding.
