Of course divorce rates are higher in Christian communities when men are taught that they are of some higher status and more intelligent than women. This is what causes the beatings and disrespect shown by men who grow up with such twisted minds.

In the past they got away with it because of the stigma meted out from the pulpit. But times have changed and the fairer sex have learned that they do not have to be chained like an animal to an abusive spouse.

Secular couples marry for love and not for breeding more members of a demanding church. So naturally they have a better chance of a successful marriage.

<quoted text>I agree - obviously the potential for our existence arose with the universe, because we are here. And you're right, our existence might not be that unlikely in the grand scheme of things, but as far as we know (admittedly almost nothing) life only exists on earth.
I do think we have a lot of potential, but I'm worried we may never reach it.
You are exactly right that Science has failed to provide any concrete proof of the existence of life other than what is in our own biosphere. However that could change any day.

I assert evolution has evolved us into beings that are capable of taking charge of our further evolution, which I see as a psychological conscious evolution and that as a species no further physical evolution is going to take place; this is as good as it gets for humanity, it is all up to individuals now.

<quoted text>I have zero tolerance for those who claim to be one thing but act the exact opposite. The most disgraced, dishonorable Reverend Theodore Haggard (R-Sodom) is a fine example of Christian hypocrisy. Al Garcia hasn't attained that level on Topix but, as we have no knowledge of his real life, it is certainly an unworthy goal he could attain.
His biggest "crime" to me is his tagline. "I am not religious, I follow Jesus."
1. There could be no more dishonest or disingenuous statement.
2. It proves the inherent immorality of the religion when the adherents try to distance themselves from it.
3. It's just another silly schism in a long line of silly schisms.
4. It is a dishonest attempt to make the exercise seem more hip, liberal, and casual than the evil doctrines of the actual religion.
5. Trying to leave the terrible parts behind is attempting to brush more dust over the dogma's evil history which is the best way to allow history to repeat itself.
6. Trying to redefine the dogma does not make it any less seedy or disgusting.
7. You can't "whitewash" the Jesus myth and ignore the reality.
8. Those who make this claim usually for right into the dictionary definition of religion -“a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.”
9. As written, the Jesus-myth was very religious and involved in devotional and ritual observances. It expressed its obedience to the religious law of the Old Testament. It encouraged and established ritual observances, the organization of believers into a group, and a moral code governing affairs that believers are required to follow, the very definition of religion. The Gang of 13 established the damn religion in the first place, according to the legend.
10. Liars deserve no quarter and to claim to be a follower of the Jesus myth and not be religious is a whopper, a doozie, "a crap load of misunderstanding" and misinformation.
Sometimes I feel like all I can do is shake my head. I try to be nice to them and then they shit on me and think it is a normal response.

Did you hear about the 4 nuns who were killed together in a car wreck?

They were waiting in line for St. Peter at the pearly gates. When Peter arrived he asked the first nun if she had ever sinned.

She said, yes, once I saw a man's penis.

Peter told her to go wash her eyes in the holy water and then enter Heaven. The first nun entered into heaven.

Peter then asked the second nun if she had ever sinned and the second nun said she had once touched a man's penis so Peter told her to go wash her hands in the holy water and then enter heaven. The second nun entered heaven.

All of a sudden the fourth nun pushed the third nun out of the way and said to St. Peter, I can see where this is going and if I am going to have to gargle in the holy water I want to do it before she washes her ass in it.

<quoted text>So, that's your best rebuttal against the contradictions. If studying the Bible were to lead to understanding, there would not be 40,00 and growing sects and schisms in Christianity. There would be one. One and only one. Your decoder rings do not match.
I'm certain you're aware that we teach our children that colonial immigrants came to this country to escape religious persecution. What we fail to teach is from whom they were escaping. Can you answer that $500,000 question? That's right, other Christians! Good answer. The only thing Bible studies accomplish is the fomenting of a specific person's decoder ring into the minds of others.
The Colonists kept right on murdering each other in the New World along Christian sect lines just as they were doing in Europe. Apparently each sect felt the others had "a load of crap of TOTAL misunderstanding", if that is even English.
The Smithsonian has a wonderful article displaying the insanity and ugliness of Christianity, laid bare:
http://www.smithsonianmag.com/history-archaeo...
I doubt you'll read it as your drool cup will exceed capacity as you mouth-breathe your way through it.
What conclusions can be drawn from the millions of different "loads of crap of TOTAL understandings" of the Bible?
1. It is the work of men, not deities.
2. It is nothing more than a money and power grab.
3. The interpretations and "loads of crap of total understanding" are just an extension of the ego of the interpreter.
4. The inability of any two Christians to agree on even simple dogma is inevitable.
5. The Bible is a load of horseshirt.
It reminds me of a joke:
What's your religion?
I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off. I immediately ran over and said "Stop! Don't do it!"
"Why shouldn't I?" he said.
I said, "Well, there's so much to live for!"
"Like what?"
"Well ... are you religious or atheist?"
"Religious."
"Me too! Are you Christian or Jewish?"
"Christian."
"Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?"
"Protestant."
"Me too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?"
"Baptist."
"Wow! Me too! Are you Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the Lord?"
"Baptist Church of God."
"Me too! Are you Original Baptist Church of God, or are you Reformed Baptist Church of God?"
"Reformed Baptist Church of God."
"Me too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1879, or Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915?"
"Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915!"
To which I said, "Die, heretic scum!" and pushed him off.
I have yet to meet a Christian who could supply one solid reason why I should believe their decoder ring over the millions of others. Until that time, the only conclusion is that it is nothing more than driven by your deep desire to live forever or the result of child abuse by adults who filled your young mind with visions of eternal torture for finite thought crime. Either way, it's so sordid and sad and the Christian Carpetbaggers are laughing all the way to the bank.
Dude why are you so full of hate?

Incase you hadn't noticed, when the Nazis were at war, there were many concentration camps.
At the end of the war, the allegation began that all the camps were death camps. All 1200 of them. Then the figure is reduced to a mere 6 death camps today. It needs no explanation to see just how little of the Germans are implicated today. 1200, to 6 death camps? And yet for all 6, no one can give a rational explanation as to how the killing process worked.
Not even Dachau is regarded as a deathcamp. That is proven to not be a deathcamp, yet how many fake stories had we seen on Spielbergs Shoah foundation regarding gassings, skin lampshades, soap at Dachau? All kinds of absurd stories from alleged Jewish survivors and Allied liberators of the camp. Spielberg made millions off that nonsense. He made millions off of WWII victims. That is shameful.
yeah right,Jews were shipped there for a vacation and relaxation!

(3) Jesus says:

(1) "If those who lead you say to you:‘Look, the kingdom is in the sky!’
then the birds of the sky will precede you.
(2) If they say to you:‘It is in the sea,’ then the fishes will precede you.
(3) Rather, the kingdom is inside of you, and outside of you."
(4) "When you come to know yourselves, then you will be known,
and you will realize that you are the children of the living Father.
(5) But if you do not come to know yourselves, then you exist in poverty, and you are poverty."

There is only one (almost complete) text that had been found - so there is only version, with different (minor) interpretations of the text.

Thanks for responding and asking.

C'mon Nobody, you can be honest with me. Why did you divert from refuting the post, but instead chose to refute the poster?

You do not play fair.
You refuse to acknowledge the biblical problems that disqualify the Bible as the word of God and that is extremely disrespectful.

Looking within - at those "frustrations" - will allow you to overcome them.

Nobody, there is alot of hate in this world. We just need to bypass it when you can and look to better or more positive aspects of life.

If one dwells in hatred, it is really cumbersome for that person to exit the cycle.

Living through respect, kindness, and love seems to avoid hatred for me. It works for me, maybe it will work for you.

Good luck!
