I don't consider it a minor discrepancy.
"I won't pay for college."
...
"I won't help my kids at all if they go to college."
Very different.
If you haven't planned for your kids going to college, and you're not going to pay for it, then you've limited what they can hope to achieve in two ways:

- while they're working, if they work, others will be fully immersed in their studies and chosen profession. These people will outpace anyone who has to work outside their profession

- if they take student loan debt, their future earnings will be greatly slowed down relative to those without such a handicap

It's not a critique. It's just reality.

Cigarettes are protective against tuberculosis bacteria and prevent the common cold. Tar is like a Star Trek shield in that it just waits for colds viruses to come, then wraps them in love, drowning them, and you're safe.
But tar's goodness doesn't last long in the human body. Your immune system uses it all up so fast that you have to smoke a lot. Like a pack a day or so. More in cold season. And flu season.

Time to correct and "clean you", give you a bit of chastisement, and a bit of my "lessons"!
What is with you insulting the meaning behind "feminine" by calling all these men feminine as if that hurts them???

Call them poohfaces or immature boys, but don't say "you sound like a woman!" 'cause women are not insults!

Unlike the "American way"--tossing our grandparents into old folks homes where they won't bother us, and playing capitalist with our children.
Yes, we are VERY proud of that Catcher. I think It's Just simply a sign of respect and feeling of Honor that we instill in our children about taking care of the ones that took care of us. It's the right thing to do.

<quoted text>
Of course, like any other parent, I want my son to lead a successful, independent life (and I'm happy that his ship is on the right course toward that end). That should go without saying.
But again, if my son, for whatever reason, found himself needing or wanting to live in my home, he knows that it's his home too, and that he would have no need to even ask. When he walks in the door, he is home. And again, I would never require payment from him, for rent, food, or any other normal family living expense. He is my son, and if he needs me and/or wants me, it's my pleasure to be there for him.
One last thing: While he was growing up, I always gave my son an allowance. But it was that, an allowance, and was not tied to anything. I never conditioned it on doing chores, and never paid a dime for doing anything in or around the house. As a family member, he knew that he had the responsibility to contribute by doing what was asked of him, and that he would not receive payment for what he did. He had responsibilities, but he was my son and not a hired hand.
As I said, it's cultural.
I don't think it's cultural, I think it's personal. My sister-in-law told me that she hopes her kids never move out - all six of them.

I want my sons to learn the value of a dollar and the value of earning it. I rarely give them free money, most of the times they work for it for doing chores like mowing the lawn, washing the car, pulling weeds, etc.

I think that shows a young mind but the true value of earning money and earning your own way, rather than just being given to you.

My son will be 18 in 13 months, he already knows that if he's going to stay in my house that is going to pay rent. I won't have an adult living it in my house rent free, unless he's doing something to promote himself and doing something to make his life better. If he's going to college, learning a trade, prepping for the military, etc. he'll have to support himself.

However, if there's good reason that he can't work like he can't find a job or something like that, then of course he'll stay at my house and I'll feed him and I'll still take care of him, he is my son and I love him dearly.

I think my personality differs from yours in that I promote tough love and don't cater to my sons.

I'm not trying to belittle you or say that I'm better, just different than you.

It is bad for men to be effeminate, and bad for women to be butch. That is why it should be a could insult to say a man is like a women!
