You are young, child.
"WHERE dips the rocky highland
Of Sleuth Wood in the lake,
There lies a leafy island
Where flapping herons wake
The drowsy water rats;
There we've hid our faery vats,
Full of berrys
And of reddest stolen cherries.

Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.

Where the wave of moonlight glosses
The dim gray sands with light,
Far off by furthest Rosses
We foot it all the night,
Weaving olden dances
Mingling hands and mingling glances
Till the moon has taken flight;
To and fro we leap
And chase the frothy bubbles,
While the world is full of troubles
And anxious in its sleep.

Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.

Where the wandering water gushes
From the hills above Glen-Car,
In pools among the rushes
That scarce could bathe a star,
We seek for slumbering trout
And whispering in their ears
Give them unquiet dreams;
Leaning softly out
From ferns that drop their tears
Over the young streams.

Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.

Away with us he's going,
The solemn-eyed:
He'll hear no more the lowing
Of the calves on the warm hillside
Or the kettle on the hob
Sing peace into his breast,
Or see the brown mice bob
Round and round the oatmeal chest.

For he comes, the human child,
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than he can understand."

Pedantic nonsense aside, you'd let your son love with you as long as he wants? Rent free? Do you ever want him to grow up? Take responsibility for his own life (as you have)?
Of course, like any other parent, I want my son to lead a successful, independent life (and I'm happy that his ship is on the right course toward that end). That should go without saying.

But again, if my son, for whatever reason, found himself needing or wanting to live in my home, he knows that it's his home too, and that he would have no need to even ask. When he walks in the door, he is home. And again, I would never require payment from him, for rent, food, or any other normal family living expense. He is my son, and if he needs me and/or wants me, it's my pleasure to be there for him.

One last thing: While he was growing up, I always gave my son an allowance. But it was that, an allowance, and was not tied to anything. I never conditioned it on doing chores, and never paid a dime for doing anything in or around the house. As a family member, he knew that he had the responsibility to contribute by doing what was asked of him, and that he would not receive payment for what he did. He had responsibilities, but he was my son and not a hired hand.

As I said, it's cultural.

The God you believe in goes around smearing shit on people's faces. You believe your God goes around smearing shit on people's faces. The Bible says it, you believe it, that settles it.
Nice beliefs you have there RR. NOT!
That's it, God, go to your room!

I've never been so embarrassed in all my life! Sorry, sorry, he's still growing up. Now we have fresh towels here, and you can have a long shower.

The answer is all Christians are liars who are trying to sucker us into the cult by deceiving us.
The particular quote is in question because it can not be resolved as to when the nobleman stopped talking and Jesus started talking; the Bible presents us with a choice to choose or not if Jesus was saying this. Christians clearly do not want to admit these might be the words of Jesus while I insist they are because it helps disqualify the religion. How ever the following is clearly Jesus:
JESUS: Luke 14:26, "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters yes, even his own life he cannot be my disciple."
Here Christians can not claim someone else is speaking or Jesus was only quoting someone else because these are his words.
That leaves the Christian with only one out and that is to claim that hate means love less. But that is just dishonest. Hate means hate. If Jesus wanted to say to love your parents less than you love him then he would not have insisted you hate them.
Christians can never be trusted to tell you about God, the Bible, Jesus or anything really. They lie so much for God that they are completely unable to know what the truth is any more about anything.
You see all of them doing it. Were they all cloned from that same church basement in southern California?
I would like to believe they're explaining it as they believe it rather than snickering and laughing about lying to us.

I strongly advise you to not take biblical advice from the resident atheist reverend. He's well known for skewing scripture.
Just like this one, he's trying to pass off a parable as a true story.
You mean Jesus didn't call for people to be killed?

<quoted text>I agree, cigarettes are pretty terrible for you, but I think you're overstating things. I'm a moderate smoker, and I know many others. Some people only smoke when they drink, or smoke after a big meal, etc. And no, cigarettes are not more addictive than heroin. Cocaine, maybe.
Cigarettes are protective against tuberculosis bacteria and prevent the common cold. Tar is like a Star Trek shield in that it just waits for colds viruses to come, then wraps them in love, drowning them, and you're safe.

But tar's goodness doesn't last long in the human body. Your immune system uses it all up so fast that you have to smoke a lot. Like a pack a day or so. More in cold season. And flu season.

I don't consider it a minor discrepancy.
"I won't pay for college."
...
"I won't help my kids at all if they go to college."
Very different.
If you haven't planned for your kids going to college, and you're not going to pay for it, then you've limited what they can hope to achieve in two ways:

- while they're working, if they work, others will be fully immersed in their studies and chosen profession. These people will outpace anyone who has to work outside their profession

- if they take student loan debt, their future earnings will be greatly slowed down relative to those without such a handicap

It's not a critique. It's just reality.

You are effeminate and soft, that is not masculine charm that women want, boy!
Time to correct and "clean you", give you a bit of chastisement, and a bit of my "lessons"!
What is with you insulting the meaning behind "feminine" by calling all these men feminine as if that hurts them???

Call them poohfaces or immature boys, but don't say "you sound like a woman!" 'cause women are not insults!
