Aww nobody likes the truth in here?:(

Do tell me how science and rational thought can ever replace religion, which by it's very definition is about human groups gazing into the sky about what rests beyond "it all".

If science maps the universe, religion will look beyond the multiverse.

If science maps the multiverse, religion will look beyond all known dimensions.

Science maps all known dimensions, religion will dream of the absolute unknown source of them all.

Dislike all you want. Dreamers will always dream, and they will consistently dream beyond the bounds of human knowledge whether you want them to or not.

=\ Ergo, religion will never die. It can however, become more sophisticated, with it's core tenets more and more loving, humane, and productive. It's up to us to make sure the religions of the future are a BOON to mankind, not a curse.

100% wrong! There's no such thing as an atheist which has been explained to you repeatedly.
No child has ever been born with the god delusion. Unfortunately, most misguided parents indoctrinate their children into becoming theists. All rational people are anti-theists and oppose religious brainwashing.
You're making a complete ass of yourself on an international forum with your blissful ignorance and self-righteous Christian bigotry. You need professional help and should be institutionalized immediately, punk.
Exactly right. Clearly his ignorance is astounding.

Question: What's the difference between atheism and anti-theism? Aren't all atheists also anti-theists?

Answer: Atheism and anti-theism so often occur together at the same time and in the same person that it's understandable if many people fail to realize that they aren't the same. Making note of the difference is important, however, because not every atheist is anti-theistic and even those who are, aren't anti-theistic all the time. Atheism is simply the absence of belief in gods; anti-theism is a conscious and deliberate opposition to theism. Many atheists are also anti-theists, but not all.

When defined broadly as simply the absence of belief in gods, atheism covers territory that isn't quite compatible with anti-theism. People who are indifferent to the existence of alleged gods are atheists because they don't believe in the existence of any gods, but at the same time this indifference prevents them from being anti-theists as well. To a degree, this describes many if not most atheists because there are plenty of alleged gods they simply don't care about and, therefore, also don't care enough to attack belief in such gods. Atheistic indifference towards not only theism but also religion is relatively common and would probably be standard if religious theists weren't so active in proselytizing and expecting privileges for themselves, their beliefs, and their institutions.

When defined narrowly as denying the existence of gods, the compatibility between atheism and anti-theism may appear more likely. If a person cares enough to deny that gods exist, then perhaps they care enough to attack belief in gods as well — but not always. Lots of people will deny that elves or fairies exist, but how many of these same people also attack belief in such creatures? If we want to limit ourselves to just religious contexts, we can say the same about angels: there are far more people who reject angels than who reject gods, but how many nonbelievers in angels attack the belief in angels? How many a-angel-ists are also anti-angel-ists? Of course, we also don't have people proselytizing on behalf of elves, fairies, or angels very much and we certainly don't have believers arguing that they and their beliefs should be privileged very much. It's thus only to be expected that most of those who deny the existence of such beings are also relatively indifferent towards those who do believe.

Anti-theism requires more than either merely disbelieving in gods or even denying the existence of gods. Anti-theism requires a couple of specific and additional beliefs: first, that theism is harmful to the believer, harmful to society, harmful to politics, harmful, to culture, etc.; second, that theism can and should be countered in order to reduce the harm it causes. If a person believes these things, then they will likely be an anti-theist who works against theism by arguing that it be abandoned, promoting alternatives, or perhaps even supporting measures to suppress it.

Atheism is simply the absence of belief in gods;

We are all born atheists.

The Chief Feature of modern human beings today is the terrible curse of believing just any old tale told to us. Once your mamma tells you God this and Jesus that, you believe every word you were told with out question or need for evidence and proof because you trust the source. At the point that you are mature enough to understand the idea you become a theist and everyone who says something different than what your mamma told you is wrong. Your mamma sends you to church so that you can warm pews while listening to the con-artist at the front of the church turn you into a cash cow so that he can have a nice income.

Theism was invented when the first Con-artist met the first fool.

So it is absolutely true that everyone was born not believing anything, no one was born believing in God. It is learned behaviour; someone tells you and you believe them. That's all there is to it.

I disagree. Science is for manipulating the natural world, not to have a "way" of life that tries to find some divine purpose.
Religion by it's very nature will always try to have a relationship with some lofty ideal, or lofty idealistic entity, which Science will never be able to grasp.
Whether right or wrong, the problem is not religion, it is that the religions so far are barbaric and cruel.
There will always be religion.
And if you truly believe that we have found a better alternative to all of religion, you yourself have, ironically, found religion.
science nor atheism is NOT religion

but you already knew that,so why the BS?

American Fascists
The Christian Right and the War on America
by Chris Hedges, p18
'
There are at least 70 million evangelicals in the United States, about 25 percent of the population - attending more than 200,000 evangelical churches. Polls indicate that about 40 percent of respondents believe in the Bible as the "actual word of God" and that it is "to be taken literally, word for word." Applied to the country's total population, this proportion would place the number of believers at about 100 million. These polls also suggest that about 84 percent of Americans accept that Jesus is the son of God; 80 percent of respondents say that they believe they will stand before God on the Day of Judgment. The same percentage of respondents say God works miracles, and half say they think angels exist. Almost a third of all respondents say they believe in the Rapture.

We are born essentially without knowledge of the world. With newborns lacking knowledge, we could argue that a newborn is inherently agnostic rather than atheistic. But we won't do that either. Agnostic or atheist is a foolish claim in that context. Both terms relate to at least a small understanding of the concept of god. Newborns don't have it. Lacking the concept of a deity, atheist and agnostic are irrelevant terms. It would be equally irrelevant to assign any religious belief system to a newborn child.
Disbelief is learned, just as belief is.
