Rational people do care about the very real dangers of religious brainwashing. Brainwashed brainwashers are so busy perpetuating the greatest lie ever told that they really don't give a shit about the consequences of their shameless actions. It's unlikely you'll ever develop intellectually to understand the difference between those who care and those who don't. Shame on you, death-denying cowardly Christian cultist Al Garcia!

I can't speak for everyone, but for me, she's my shining knight, my response when I'm speechless, to the ridiculous, uneducated, unintellectual hatred that so many Christians post here.
Just as I don't see the trash that atheists post, Al, you don't see the trash that Christians post.
The difference between what, say, Dr. Shrink posts and what Pomona posts is that Pomona actually cares. She is deeply, deeply worried about people - you can see that in her absolute rejection of violence. Not a single time has Pomona threatened violence.
Yet I have been threatened so many times, Al, by people who believe they are Christians. Rape, murder, torture - whatever. Just show me a single quote where Pomona advocated such terrible, mindless, dehumanizing tactics, a single post.
It doesn't happen. She's harsh, yes, and she is nasty in her conveyance of what she believes to be a psychological problem, but she never, not once to my knowledge, advocates for violence.
And I will defend her.

First Let me say this Hiding. I love you. I think you're very clever, intelligent and witty and I could easily hang out with you at a bar.
Do i think Pomona truly is brain dead? Far from it.
I think Pomona has a higher intelligence but that intelligence is easily overpowered by her hatred and fear. That makes her a very ugly person. But I have to strongly take issue with Pomona. Pomona does not care. Pomona is full of pain and hatred.
Pomona attacks anyone that does not share her point of view. You and I both know that there are terrible pieces of shit on both sides of the argument and i would hope that you would be able to find and understand that I support none of those.
Yet you do. That was clear.
I can understand your rational fear of those "Christians"who will lie to you to try to rape you.
But then they will also lie saying that they are "Christians" too. Think about it Hiding.
Those bastards are just sociopathic liars like our resident dumbass Dr. 1-1000 etc.
I was just very disappointed by your post is all.

Did you really expect an honest answer from the mentally retarded Riverside Redneck? The items he listed were nevertheless appalling.
"Appalling"?!

1. a particular system of religious worship, especially with reference to its rites and ceremonies.
2. an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, especially as manifested by a body of admirers: the physical fitness cult.
3. the object of such devotion.
4. a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.
5. a group having a sacred ideology and a set of rites centering around their sacred symbols.

O_o

Ya, those are terrible......

Yes you are as enchanted as Hollywood, there is little chance any life form encountered not from Earth or not made by Earthlings would resemble any life from Earth.
You are thinking in relative terms, and that life would be in identical conditions. But it is to a high degree more likely that alien life would be completely different and composed of different elements, or even a different state of matter.
Science has identified suns just like our own star Sol that are billions of light years away from us. They have identified gas giants like Jupiter and Saturn and terrestrial rocky worlds like the earth but so far much larger. Gravity appears to be the same everywhere in the Universe as does the speed of light with certain fluctuations. The laws of physics seem to be universal.

So why would you expect life that arises in the biospheres that coat certain rocky worlds to be different than ourselves? Everything is the same, operating under the same laws yet you believe one thing is different in all of this and that is beings who can transform minerals into conscious thought.

Clearly you are not participating in what the Universe is doing because if you were you would know this.

Your assertions are nothing but hearsay and they can not be tested to see if they are true. Until you can prove a word of what you annoy us with it is just more hearsay.

They have no proof wolpertingers don't exist either.
Why don't they believe wolpertingers exist?
Why don't they demand proof wolpertingers don't exist?
Why isn't there any proof wolpertingers don't exist?
It's for the same reason they don't have any proof wolpertingers do exist.
Ergo...
There is no proof their god doesn't exist.
One possible reason for that is..........
I have often stated to these deceptive dishonest deceitful simple minded pew warming idiots that I will be happy to prove that their Biblegod does not exist, and I will be happy to do so just as soon as they are finished providing their proof that it does.

Does this mean I never get a chance to prove God doesn't exist?

I think I just did.

You gotta click the "expand" button... if there is one. If there is, it'll be right the below the last displayed definition. Hukt recommends you look for and use it when using definition.com in the future.

RE: sect

Dunno. You didn't read me connote it in a negative way. However.... there are definitions (connotations) of "sect" that do.

<quoted text>I didn't disqualify my post. I disqualified the generalising nature of my post, with that last line.:)

I didn't demonstrate. The Soviets demonstrated it. Atheists, after how many thousands of years, had one shot at collectively showing the world that they are better than godbots. And what did they do? Hand over absolute power to a single government. Made the government their god. Essentially a group of men were the gods. Where was the individualism, the "free thinking", the rationality, then? All that out the window. Make the government the god. People can't even own their own business. Literally all was for their government god!

I was prepared to accept that those soviets were just quack, and their communism had nothing to do with atheism. But then I found on this very thread that we have people, atheists fantasizing over the unthinkable: a one world government!

While the agnostics are fairly individualistic, where are most of the atheists? On the left, indulging socialist ideas, mob rule, fear of private companies, faith in the government. Even after 9/11 when the U.S. people were presumably hating all of us Muslims of the world, who were these people? I was shocked. I expected the bulk of these U.S. people who hate us, to be the right wingers. Right wingers are often retarded but the one thing we can count on the right wingers, is that they will never fully trust their government. The left on the other hand was suckling everything the government was feeding. And where do the atheists stand mostly? On the left, many on the far left.

Power to God, cries the theist. Power to the mob, power to government, cries the atheist. Even if God is indeed imaginary, I'd consider a person believing in God far less dangerous than a person believing in absolute government control.
Let me make clear what I mean by one world government.

In a nutshell, it would be a government that could unify the world towards common beneficial goals.

I know. It's far fetched.

But as long as everybody wants everybody else to live by their rules, and belief systems can't be made to understand that their way is not the only way, it won't happen.

I think our world is too fucked up to ever be able to work together as a planet.

He'll, we can't even get along within our own countries.

There are loads of divisive issues in the world, but most could be rationally worked through. Religion is the only irrational divider that no amount of reason seems to be able to overcome.

The rest are just a matter of learning to accept differences rather than trying to eliminate them.

I believe that greed and religion are our biggest stumbling blocks to ever seeing humanity working together on a planet wide basis.

I'm in no way advocating some new world order, run by a powerful few, but a new world cooperation.

Humans may just, someday, be capable of that.

We have a long way to go, though, and as world views go, secular humanism is the best overall set of guidelines I've yet seen.

Islam certainly doesn't hold a candle to it, nor does Christianity.
