So...you believe that theology is required to "know" about the Christian deity? That, very obviously, leads me to ask you if you have a theology degree.
Are you kidding?

No, I don't. But I do have over 30 years of education in the Christian religion. My dad has a Master's in theology and his dad had a Doctorate.
I know that I have more experience and education with the Bible than people like Dawkins.
And you.
I made use of the Bible in a hotel room this past weekend.

Now I'll probably end up in the Lake of Fire.

It doesn't seem fair.

Now would a god who is worthy of worship not expect his creations to operate to their fullest potential? To use all of their faculties to explore and examine the immensity of his creation using critical thinking and enquiry to get closer to their creator even if they; in all honesty could not believe he existed based upon his obvious and intended absence from the plain of existence they inhabit?
or would he expect them to be no better than bronze age goat herders eschewing every scientific discovery with a lie on their lips and making endless excuses and apologies to make up for their gods intended absence?
...Personally, I'm with Bertrand Russell on this particular point. LOL

I never said apologetics is science, did I?
Apologetics is simply a reasonable argument to justify something.
What's WordWebPro have to say?
Good idea.

Noun: apologetics
1. The branch of theology that is concerned with the defense of Christian doctrines

WordWeb Pro 6.6

That covers it...

Hold on. Two more.

Noun: doctrine
1. A belief (or system of beliefs) accepted as authoritative by some group or school

Verb: indoctrinate
1. Teach doctrines to; teach uncritically

WordWeb Pro 6.6

Yeah.

Yes....
The burden of proof lies with someone who is making a claim....
"Adam & Eve didn't exist" is a claim.
But you don't ask them to prove that.
Go figure.
You can't prove the non existence of something that doesn't, or has never existed, however, you can prove the existence of something that does, or did exist.

You have to have proof or evidence of something of some sort in order to disprove it.

Until there is, the statement - "Adam & Eve didn't exist" - is valid.

"The Bible tells me so."
Now THAT is circular reasoning bud.
What authority does science have to investigate and report the FACTS?
Now I'm sorry friend, but that is the stupidest question I think I have EVER heard.
You just mull over your response for a week or two. <sigh>
I agree, "yours" is the stupidest question i have ever heard..lol

This was my "original" question here:

What authority does Science have/use to say they have "facts and truth"?

The question is asking "you" "by" what authority does Science have/ USE to say they have truth??

Guess what Science uses too determine "their" truth and facts? Your correct. They use the Science method/discipline to determine its very own truth.. It uses it's OWN METHOD to find its "own proof", to present it as it's very own "supposedly" truth/facts.

Can you not see the circular reasoning? Giving the FACT, that "everything" about Evolution is a "Myth" as well........

Do you understand how scientific theories work?
I apologize, but based on your comment above, I'm guessing no.
Actually I do, and scientific theories require repeated, well-substantiated evidence to become theories. abiogenesis has NO evidence whatsoever to back it up. So...basically, Science has a factual end, theories about the middle, and no beginning at all. I don't care how scientific theories work...what I said is correct...it's like a tower without a base.

Sure. Everyday science isn't news because its everyday science.
Groundbreaking, revolutionary science makes the news.
Science disproving God would be world-changing & totally groundbreaking news.
There is no effort given by science to disprove deities because it concerns itself with things that can be known and tested.

Actually, religion proving there is a god would be the biggest news to ever be heard by mankind.

hahaaa

Like that'll ever happen.

Until it happens, I'm pretty sure science will keep dealing with reality based efforts.

You didn't answer the question.
Why do you believe the words of religiously uneducated people regarding religion?
You atheists are always complaining about Christian websites and Christian scientists and religious people that pretend to be scientists and about how they can't be trusted because they are not experts a particular field.
People like Richard Dawkins are not experts in theology nor have they any educational background regarding the religion they're complaining about.
So the question is, why do you believe what people like him have to say?
Does this suggest topix atheist et al are biased? Is credibility brought into question?

The Hebrew word for day is 'yom'. It has several meanings depending on context.
In the context in Genesis,'yom' means an indeterminate amount of time.
I think Genesis resembles evolution because it demonstrates a gradual growth of all life on earth, unless you read it in a literal form as the Creationists do.

Pure hogwash AM.. You state and claim Science is about finding truth, and following where ever the evidence leads..

Then explain to me,, why it is there is only one (biased) viewpoint about our origin welcomed in our public schools and the halls of science? How can that be called "freedom" of thought: or to follow the evidence wherever it leads?

What has Science/Evolution got to "fear" from a "Deity/ID"?
This is exactly why the Catholics accepted evolution, they were at least smart enough to see they can't deny the microscope, and telescope.
Reprobate's, is why.. Remember?
