I've posed this query to many a atheist, but none have responded in kind:
Show me ONE Christian that thinks God is a wizard.
Go.
Let's see....hmmm Riverside Redneck!

You said "god created you" instead of your parents creating you through sex. Like you just magically appeared out of thin air.

No wonder you act like the stork brought you here.

Nope. DF just defined God a a super magic man up in the sky.
DF is an atheist.
Christians don't think God is:
1. A man.
2. A wizard.
3. Has super-duper magic powers.
4. Lives in the sky OR the clouds.
Atheists believe in all of the above.
Hang on a second there, amigo. Do you mean atheists believe in all those, or do you mean we think that is what the Christians believe?

Yes, christians do think all that.
1. Your god is always referred to as "He". Who else could be a "he" but a man? More of your pretzel logic.
2. You say "god said let there be light, and there was light." Only a wizardlike entity can just "poof" light just like that!
3. Refer to #2.
4. "God of the Heavens". Do you look DOWN at heaven? Is "heaven" referred to in a rocket ship to space - or digging in a ditch?
Atheists do not believe there is a magic man in the sky, Christians do.
1. God is referred to "as a" father. Y'all take it literally.

2. A wizard is a 'man' with magical powers. See #1.

3. Blank, huh?

4. You're so tiny.... When you think about a town north of you, you probably say it's 'up there', doncha? In turn, a town south of you is 'down there', huh?

Think, man. Think!

BOTH arguments being "wrong" makes them BOTH moot, which means THERE IS NO POINT ARGUING OVER WHETHER THERE IS A GOD OR NOT.
0-0=0
0-0=0
0-0=0.
Renders a "god" impossible.
0-0=0.
0-0=0.
0-0=0.
If that's how you feel, then so be it. You're entitled to your opinion.

But if that's truly how you feel, why are you wasting your time on this thread?

I mean I think that's what some of you believe. I think you use the absurdity of thinking of God as a skydaddy, sky wizard, magic man in the clouds, et al to help you think that your beliefs are justified.

Some of you.

The rest, well you're prolly right. They think that's what Christians believe. But if that were true, why do no Christians think that way?

So what?
At our current state of scientific development, God is unquantifiable by science. No scientist will sit there and talk trash like you do saying "Science disproves God!!", because they know they don't.
But don't worry, God isn't the only thing beyond our scientific grasp. Emotions, dark matter, the theory of evolution & Big Bang, black holes, etc are all unquantifiable by current science.
Want a tissue?
Yeah - to wipe away my tears from laughing at your dumb @ss so hard!

Black holes are strong forces of gravity that suck up everything, even light.

The evidence for evolution can clearly be seen - except by you because you're evolving slower than others and it's taking your unevolved brain too long to catch up.

Emotions can be studied because they are demonstrateable. We can demonstrate our emotional reactions to things and they can be observed and studied.

Yeah, I'm going to need more tissue. I mean, how "current" is your science? Before the moon landing?

Yes, Christians do think that way. "God in heaven" DOES mean "god in the sky."

Stop lying. You obviously conveniently forgot about what you were taught in your "Christian home" about that.

Y'all do that same stuff with evolution. It's a million piece puzzle, we have a few thousand pieces & y'all boast & brag like we know what the picture looks like.

Going to reply to your post in two bits here.

First. No teaching of opinions. Only cold hard facts. Who really wrote the gospels, etc. What archeological evidence have been found to support claims, who compiled the Bible as we know ot today, who did translations, etc. Absolutely no opinion. It should be as factual as an account of the Cold War, the Black struggle during Apartheid, or the happenings before and after the Congress of Wenen.

2. Evolution is the largest body of work mankind has ever preduced. It incorporates dozens of fields. It incorporates thousands of dissertations. It incorporates millions of hypotheses. It incorporates tens of millions of observations.

99% of people who has a problem accepting the ToE, have very little education/aptitude for any kind of natural science.

You can do an experiment if you like. Ask most of the anti-evolution guys on here, people like Yellowdog, bossdrop, response, Dr Shrink, etc a simple question. Ask them why the moon is drawn to earth by gravity, but does not smash into the earth? I will bet they have never heard the term "angular momentum" ever before. I bet they would not be able to answer that question. In fact, I would not expect them to pass a seventh grade physics paper.

Now this is significant. For the masses of people knowing nothing of physics, biology, etc, it is quite easy for a loon like Hovind, Ken Ham, or Answers in Genesis to convince them that evolution is all made up.

I would venture a guess, that of all the posters on Topix, I probably know Mesozoic fossil finds the best, with one possible exception, Fossilbob. I knlw just about everything there is to know about dinosaurs, how they lived, how they died and how we think they behaved. Why am I drawn to put so much stock into evolution, instead of Creationsism? Because, creationsism is blatantly untrue and demonstratably so.
