Well, learned as a synonym of taught is contained in most thesaurus, but, that is only because of incorrect usage in American vernacular. I really "learned" him good. If you are your own teacher, then what you were taught is the same as what you have learned. If another teaches you,then you only learn what another taught you. You find this when you are taught things by rote methology.
in proper usage, llearn means to acquire or gain skill, knowledge or comprehension; teach means to impart skill, knowledge or comprehension to another. You certainly can "obtusify" simple concepts.
