From your stance in this life, i would have to agree.. ALL Athiest and the scientology people think of themselves as a ''god''..
They/you believe that you have to answer to no one or God after death has taken you, you are the FOOL to think and believe that there isnt a suprem being who created this universe, and that one day when the breath that Gods giving you leaves your soul, then you will know who the fool was. You will have your proof, evidence and so on, you will have an Eternity to examine every detail..
Again tho, my post was correct as reffering to idols and false gods..
You write:

Hey....I'm an atheist and I certainly don't think I'm a 'God'

Good post.
I agree 100%.
I also find it interesting that so few religious can accept that other religious have the same certainty that their beliefs are the only right beliefs.
RR thinks that if he was born and raised in India, he'd still believe in Jesus.
I know. It's pretty funny. I can imagine a scenario in which I might have ended up a dedicated christian, so why can't most religious people imagine a scenario in which they were a dedicated (insert different religion)?

I do think that there's just as many dumb ass atheists as there are dumb ass Christians.
Sometimes science or faith just can't fix stupid....
It came across as though you were saying you made progress whereas us a thirsts got stuck by a roadblock.

I actually see religion as a roadblock that stifles curiosity.

I can't tell you how many times, when I was growing up, that it was made very clear to me that certain questions were not to be asked.

Screw that.

<quoted text>Still not liking it. You don't have to believe in god to continue on your journey. There is no one way to figuring out this strange scenario we all find ourselves in. Some people choose to have faith in god (which I don't think is justified, but that's neither here nor there), and some people choose not to. That doesn't mean they're "stuck at a roadblock." And yes, there are idiots in all walks of life.
When I mentioned journey, I was referring to a journey with God. I've posted on here in the past that I've personally known people in the scenarios I've illustrated. People that tried to follow God and basically stumbled. Been hurt by those who were supposed to walk with the Lord. I know. I'm one of 'em.
Don't be offended or feel that I'm directing anything specifically at you. I don't roll that way.

Some humor for you :
Heard about this a few years back-

A few years ago at our Air Traffic Centre we received warning that an undisclosed number of US Air Force B2 Bombers would be crossing our FIR [Flight Information Region] at a particular time on a particular day. They would check in with us as they entered our airspace and check out again as they left. They gave us the callsign to expect, and the route was known, so it was logical to assume that they would contact us at a certain time at a certain place. The callsign and reporting points have been changed to protect the innocent. Being the then famous new 'Stealth' bombers we would know little about it but they would pay us the courtesy of letting us know they were there. Eric, a very capable controller with a keen sense of humour was on position, and heard, "UAE Area, this is USAFB2. This is a courtesy call advising that we are about to enter your airspace." Eric replied, "USAFB2, welcome to UAE Airspace, we have you on radar 200 miles out over LOTUS, hope you enjoy your visit." Without thinking the Stealth Bomber replied, "Thank you UAE, it a pleasure to be... Wait - you got us on Radar? 200 miles out? You shittin' me?" "That's affirmative USAFB2," said Eric, "I'm shittin' you. Enjoy your visit."
Lol!

That got his attention.

No Aero, that's not what I was trying to say.
I meant that there are "some" that try very hard to be very pious and devout Christians and then when they fail to do so (as we all do) the beat themselves up. They either become angry Atheists or angry guilty Christians.

I too was told not to question the Bible at an early age. Some of the normal "pat" answers given to me sounded like a cop out. Even when they would say that I shouldn't ask questions and instead seek for insight and forgiveness (guilt trip) I said what you said "screw that"

It's complicated with me Aero. I still have my burdens, my skeletons that I deal with daily.
But I did reach my personal conclusion that I would not do that with my kids, people I know, or people that are my friends.

If you weren't talking about hell, what were you talking about? What other place would an unbeliever have to contemplate the folly of their ways for eternity? I don't think I twisted your words at all.
As usual your perception and comprehension is a black and white thing! So i will try to to explain it as simple as i can for you..

The ''subject'' at hand was God, and false gods.. Belief and not believing, he said i was a fool to believe in a God, or any god for that matter.

''That self'' was the only truth we could know.

So all i was saying to him was he will have his proof that God does exist, that God is TRUTH as well..

Nothing more, no bad intent of me wanting to see him go to a lake of fire and burn for an eternity.

So yes you did twist my words and project that thats what i said..

I might believe you had you not thrown that bit about having eternity to consider every detail in there. You didn't just say he will have his proof, you said he will have an eternity to contemplate this truth. Where else would an atheist go for eternity within the confines of your dogma?

And it's funny... someone like you accusing me of dichotomous thinking.

Again, you are projecting..You are focusing on what you only want to see, and you keep implying that my intent was for him to burn in hell as you say.. Farthest from the truth, and how do ''know'' that was or wasnt my intent you idiot??? You dont!

Yes, unfortunantly hell is the place for the unbelievers. What does that have to do with him finaly realizing and knowing that self isnt the only truth that exist??? Which AGAIN was the topic at hand!
sheeeeww man...ur killing me..

And one other thing i could care less if you believe me or not, its your arrogance that sickens me..
