JUST because of a high atheist population?

You're an intolerant bigot.
Imagine for a minute, if for every 100 people, 98 were atheist, and every time you dared open your mouth about Jesus you were ridiculed, called evil, and told you should be tortured and killed.

I bet you can't even imagine that.

Nano?!
Oh no.
Nano is a wonderful, compassionate, loving and open person who respects ALL other opinions.
She would never make assertions without having firsthand knowledge to back them up.
You must be thinking of another nano.
Now I know that my cousin's daughter is just a lying, scheming bitch who only married a man for his money.(Which apparently failed), and that my mother is secretly atheist and that I am only not telling her that I'm atheist because I'm a wimpy coward and not because I don't want to remove whatever comfort she claims to get from believing that her fast approaching death will bring her into the waiting arms of Jesus, who she really doesn't believe in.
That's the sweet and wonderful nano that I know.
Your right. Nano only tells you these things out of love, of course.

HA HA !!!
Bullshit.
RR has never succumbed to peer pressure. Ever.
Feeling a need to "fit it" is a sign of a weak mind.
RR, again, there is a difference between heat of the moment peer pressure and the more pervasive, subtle social pressure that we feel everyday. If you wear clothes when you go outside or hold the door open for ladies, you have felt, and succumbed to social pressure. There is nothing wrong with that. That's part of being human.

What "pressure" to believe in a deity?
I live in a town of over 300,000 people and I'm surrounded by towns to talking over 15 million people.
I've got a pretty good idea of what living in society means, but I've got no idea what "pressure" you're talking about to believe in God.
That's because you already believe in one.

"obnoxious public displays"?! Like gay parades?
"and school prayer"?!?!? Like teaching kids that Mr & Mr Smith are OK?
There is a difference between a marginalized group staking a public claim to their rights and the majority group showing off their dominance.

Side note - why are so many of you guys worried about teaching kids that being gay is ok? Are you worried that they're just gonna snap and become gay out of the blue?

Um...she didn't say it was.
She just said it predates Christianity, as do many other religions.
You seem to think that makes a difference since you pointed out that Mormonism is only 200 years old, which has nothing to do with Mormons believing they are just as right as you claim to be.
My point wasn't the age, as you and her think. The point is, Mormonism is an altered copy/paste version of Christianity.

<quoted text>Exactly.
RR tries to use "seniority" as his case for stating he KNOWS the founding fathers were talking about the Christian god....if it's a question of how OLD a religion is, then his argument makes no sense, but nothing new there.....
Yet RR will maintain that the majority of the founding fathers were Christian when there is MUCH out there- including their own words- to at the very least cast quite a shadow of doubt as to whether or not they were Christian and as to what their personal religious beliefs were to begin with.
RR seems to conveniently forget that the founding fathers WERE politicians- even if a bit different from the politicians of today.
Still, as has always been the case with politics, those clamoring for public approval will often say what they think the public wants to hear and that can change at any given point in time.
At any rate, where RR gets that "nature's god" and the "Creator" specifically refer to the Christian god is just nonsense- and not to mention that it doesn't really matter WHAT the Declaration of Independence said in that it was never a governing document but was simply what it states it was- a declaration of independence- no more and no less.
And when we consider that much of the DOI had to do with religious freedom, it makes it even more ludicrous for RR to state with such absolute certainty that it was the Christian god being referred to.
Then again, RR states much with absolute certainty that is not at all factual, but which is merely his opinion and a part of his own personal "wish list".
LMAO
