Wasn't that "The Chase" an episode in StarTrek TNG where the Enterprise, Klingons, Cardassians Discover a mysterious program and is activated, and a humanoid hologram recorded billions of years ago appears before them. The hologram tells the surprised group that her race found itself alone in their travels of the galaxy. The genetic puzzle was created in hopes that those races would come together in cooperation and fellowship in order to activate the message. The humanoid tells the group that they all come from this common seed, and implores them to remember this bond. Yup.... I saw that episode....
One of my favorite TNG episodes.

I loved it when Data owned the Klingon in Ten-Forward :)

I also liked the very end, where the Romulan opened up to Picard.

I don't spend any time thinking about god. Any god. To me, none exist.
Oh please..... Christians had nothing to do with 9-11, except the clean up.

Go harass some lunatic Muslims.

What's your problem with Christians?

Religion, dummy.

Religion.

How many times do I have to spell it out for you?

Well if you have a problem with religion in general, all religions, you have quite an uphill battle to fight.

But your comment that you didn't really care about religion until after 9-11 troubles me.

Who are you pointing fingers at?

Do you believe Aero that its possible for someone to not have a religion but possible to have a personal relationship with God or do you think that those two are one and the same?

I know your question was not directed to me, but I am going to respond anyway.....

That's the whole point, Al. Being religious or adhering to an organized religion is a whole different matter than believing in a god.

IF there is a god, it is NOT god who created religion. ALL religions are MAN MADE and have been MUCH more to the detriment of mankind as a whole than a benefit.

Religious persecution is as old as the invention of religion itself and as I'm sure you know, religious persecution is still all too alive and well today and manifests itself in many forms.

So we have organized religions causing animosity, hatred, suffering, torture and death and all in the name of one god or another.

Now what kind of god would ever want that to happen and to happen in his/her/its name, no less?

So to answer your question, having a religion is a whole different "animal" than is believing in a god.

And of course, one can be spiritual and have a belief in a god without adhering to any organized religion and without being religious at all.

Spirituality and religion are NOT the same thing any more than being religious and believing in a god are NOT the same thing.

It is certainly possible to have god in one's life without having any religion in one's life.

Any god that might exist did NOT create ANY religion. That is all mankind's doing.

Oops! ".....any more than being religious and believing in a god **ARE** the same thing...."

The "NOT" should not have been in the above.

Still on my first cup of coffee- LOL!

I think they can be separated. I also think more and more are doing just that.

But far too many are still mired in dogma and unwilling or unable to leave it behind.

Why do people keep asking this same question?

Prove there isn't:

1. Santa Claus

2. The tooth fairy

3. Leprechauns

4. Martians (big or little and green or any other color)

5. Unicorns (pink or any other color)

I would bet you that you can't, but I already KNOW that you can't, so I wouldn't want to take advantage of you.

The POINT is NOT to prove what is NOT, but to prove what IS.

Rush, we know who you are. Come out of their, child. Stop trying to attach some special identity to yourself to feel like something worthless. Perhaps that is what multiple personality disorder is about. Maybe related to your low self esteem. Post back to your original username.

Agreed on the Islam comment.

On the Christian anti-science comment, your making a false dilemma.

Remember that history is replete with brilliant scientists who have been believers. Men like like Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler, Newton, Boyle, Ray, Linnaeus, and Cuvier were all Christians, as are more recent great thinkers like Collins and Polkinghorne.

Please explain your anti-science thing....

Lets try it this way...

You prove there is no God, THEN I'll prove there is no Santa...
