Yes, I know what apologetics is. Reasoned arguments or writings in justification of something, typically a theory or religious doctrine.
Try "rationalized" instead of "reasoned".

Absolutely not!

You're doing just fine.

One nit to pick...

Do you believe "it" to be imaginary?... cuz that's kinda how you stated it.

Gotta be careful when dealing with yahoos like me.

Gawd damn, you're an idiot!
Light that's millions of years old provides clues as to what was happening millions of years ago.
It's our present understanding of light's properties and how it propagates that tells we're on the right track.
You don't care to understand because it would conflict with that preconceived notion mentioned earlier.
Feel free, next time you or one of your boys gets a speeding ticket, to argue with the officer because that radar gun is nothing more than a hoax perpetrated by godless heathens.
What makes you think that our "present understanding of light's properties" is accurate?

Arrogance.

Anything to make you feel smarter.

Good luck with that.

Over many a tattered page of newsprint from two days before,
While I squatted, pants a-flapping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As I sat in silence, crapping - rapping at my outhouse door.
" 'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my outhouse door;
Only this, and nothing more."
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, doubting...

We do not have to ever see a boat to visualize a wake though either.
Just as we never saw a 6 mile diameter asteroid strike the Earth, to cause the KT Extinction event. However we can calculate the effects and gather the evidence that it did occur. O ye of little science.

Give me a f_cking break! The KT event is what is something THOUGHT to have happened.

Stop using hypotheses, theories & guesses to make an argument. It's pathetic.

Specifically Christian theology - think about that - Christianity had to "invent" it's own system of defense for the doctrines contained therein, because it was quite implausible on its own. Yet, that doctrine is supposedly, or alleged to be inspired by a deity - a deity that Christians will assert is the most intelligent being in the Universe.

It's somewhat similar to clowns coming up wit "Bozogetics", a system of argumentation defending clown comedy and justifying why you should be laughing at it.

Now you are becoming pathetic, if you do not see an event...it never happened.

He just described what is attempted within Christian apologetics, the difference being, is that apologetics is just as circular as using the bible to prove what's in the bible, since, that's all they have to point to as a source for the doctrine they're defending. The attempt to apply logic and reason to the bible fails because ultimately, it has to refer back to the bible as the proof.

Very few Christians understand this, and this is why Christian apologetics is scoffed at and ridiculed. It only sounds reasonable to them, because it's really meant just for Christians to use on Christians that are questioning the implausibility of Christian doctrine.

We discuss religion and science sometimes as nauseous like "dogs chasing their tails" as a bright person just said because Religion, science and philosophy are human tools that we use to try gain knowledge and understanding on those things around us. In our quest to learn more Clementia we become passionate in our personal new found discoveries and sometimes that passion causes anyone to defend any perceived attack causing us to go round and round like a record baby.

Sometimes passion is not enough. Sometimes understanding or patience is necessary. And most people now a days may be neither.
