I have never understood the mutual animosity between the French and the Americans.

O'course we've all had, ahem, difficulties with the English.

Really? Then why do conservatives fight so hard to shove their religious ideology down other people's throats, for example fighting against gay rights and abortion rights? That sure smacks of "Do it my way, because I know what's best for us all, I don't care if you don't like it."
You're talking about religious conservatives. I'm not one if them & can't speak for them.

Perhaps if liberals advocated abortions at a cost to the woman instead of the taxpayer, they'd get more support.

Perhaps if gays didn't feel the need to shove their sex life in everyone's face, then whine that their personal is just that - personal, they'd probably get more support, too.

This is why education has great value. Without it, you are culturally illiterate.
You do admit to cultural illiteracy, don't you?
Absolutely not.

I might be a little ignorant of some countries cultures, but I am not cultural illiterate.

I get along with pretty much everyone & can imitate accents very well, even to a middle eastern. They always crack up.

What dies that have to do with education?

It's the law. If someone doesn't like it, oh well - hire illegals because no one cares any more.
Yes, blame the damned Americans that hire illegals. Deport the illegal sumbitch & deport his employer too.
Once again...

That's capitalism for ya.

I'm not knocking it...

Just saying.

No, it's fine. I got a little heated.
I've worked as an electrician (20+ years ago).
A friend owns a concrete company. I've worked with him a little (mostly odd-and-end crap).
Roofing.
I've installed a gazillion signs (in addition to designing/producing them).
I'm not too proud to pull twisted pair and/or OF cable when asked (Data cable; before a slab gets laid down).
Nice. Then as a 20 year electrician, how can you say that learning it is easy? You know that it's more than pulling wires through walls and installing cover plates....
The second someone figures out how to train an army of squirrels to take the place of your "illegals"... we'll all be outta work.
Who's fault will it be?
The people, the greedy business f_cks that employ them.
Then >>> I disagree.
Today >>> maybe so.
I've never agreed with it. I've always seen affirmative action as just another political stunt.

I agree with you. Conservation is the key to a healthy environment for our kids & grand kids.
So I find it highly amusing watching some liberal but on TV bitching about smoking while drinking water from a plastic bottle. Plastic bottles should NOT be illegal, they just shouldn't be bought. Or if they are bought, people need to be responsible enough to recycle them.
Ever see how much waste the liberals left at the 1st Obama inauguration? 100 tons of trash just left on the friggin ground.
And the "occupy LA" nuts? They even left piss & shit on the ground....
Or seeing all the waste lining the shelves of every grocery store (cans, paper, plastic, etc). There's more waste in a TV dinner than there is food.
I see our waste as a sign if our being spoiled for too long.
No, I think giant corporations will not do much to lower their profit. But Americans need to understand that we ARE their profit. Without us buying their goods and/or services, they wouldn't be giant corporations.

Statue of Liberty.
Fries.
Kissing.
That's pretty much it.
If it weren't for the French, we'd be paying taxes to the crown and our policemen wouldn't have guns.

My vehicles pass CA smog tests, which are brutal.

Do you?
Good on ya!

As stated, it isn't what I do... it's what I don't do.

One of the things I don't do is use a power mower.

This is just a personal pet peeve... so, to all you lawn enthusiast, don't get all bent outta shape.

Grass is a totally useless crop.

Can't eat it, Can't sell it, can't do much of anything with it 'cept waste time and energy keeping the mess in check.

If someone wants to demonstrate "diligence" in keeping their lawn kempt... let them do it with a human-powered reel mower.

Prefer? No. I said enjoy.

You can't compare the pee of two people sporadically on their own property over years and years to a few thousand pissing on government property in a few months.

Not a 20 year electrician... but, an electrician 20 years ago. My background (now) is electronics/electronic theory.

Not knocking the trade or those in it, but... being an electrician is pretty easy. Learning was a breeze. Sorry if that sounds conceited... it's true.

I'm done (hope I am) with the "other" argument (illegals/immigrants).

Just a suggestion >>> Get rid of the lawn (a portion of it).

You might be surprised at just how easy it is to push some of the newer reel mowers (unless you're a sissy). <giggles>

Like these...
