Are blacks in America a different culture? Stop lying. IQ tests are not culturally biased, that is a silly excuse. If they were then it would be possible to create one that is not culturally biased so why can't any black academic create one that they can admit is not? The reason, because they can not create one blacks can perform equal to whites on is why.

That was interesting. Thanks.
From your link:
"1. Intelligence is a very general mental capability that, among other things, involves the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend complex ideas, learn quickly and learn from experience. It is not merely book learning, a narrow academic skill, or test-taking smarts. Rather, it reflects a broader and deeper capability for comprehending our surroundings--"catching on," "making sense" of things, or "figuring out" what to do.
"2. Intelligence, so defined, can be measured, and intelligence tests measure it well. They are among the most accurate (in technical terms, reliable and valid) of all psychological tests and assessments. They do not measure creativity, character, personality, or other important differences among individuals, nor are they intended to."
This raises a few issues:
[1] Do you make a distinction between intelligence and intellect? Can intelligent animals like dogs and dolphins - animals that can learn and solve problems better than less intelligent animals - also be intellectual? The dictionaries tend to muddy any distinctions. I let the word intellect refer specifically and exclusively to symbolic reasoning - using words and numbers in contemplation. Even though the beasts can learn to recognize words, and appear to have a rudimentary and innate sense of small quantities - avian mothers know when an egg is missing from the nests - by this definition, only humans can be intellectual.
[2] Do you make a distinction between intelligence and wisdom? Can intelligent animals also be wise? The way I use the words, the answer is also no. For me, wisdom involves knowing what will make you happy, which of course is the main problem to be solved in life: finding and maintaining satisfaction.
[3] Also, I noted that the list of the features of intelligence, though not claiming to be exhaustive, didn't specify memory or recall, although it did mention learning quickly. These two may have been deliberately omitted, since they relate to data storage and retrieval, and thus are not elements of reasoning, strictly speaking.
Tests of pure reasoning might supply factual data and ask you to process it, whereas test of memory would be more like school tests, where one is expected to memorize data such as names and dates. Thus one could argue that memory is distinct from intelligence. But I wouldn't. I would include it.
[4] The authors specifically excluded creativity from the definition of intelligence, probably because it would be difficult to test for. But I think that we can agree that creativity is a sign of intelligence. Can't we declare Mozart intelligent just on the basis of his music without any testing of his reasoning or problem solving ability?
[5] And what about intuition? Where does that fit in?
[6] Which brings up the idea of there being several kinds of intelligence, the kind tested by IQ tests being only one. If we admit that there are people that are gifted at human interactions, for example, shouldn't we also call this intelligence? These people might be among the wisest. http://skyview.vansd.org/lschmidt/Projects/Th...
Given all of this, can we define intelligence better than the way it is defined above? Would you modify that definition at all?
IQ tests test for "general intelligence" called the G Factor.

I look at wisdom as the intelligent use of knowledge, like not repeating the same mistake twice.

<quoted text>Yes, I really do think that. In 2010, we had 4.8 homicides per 100,000 people, and in 2009 (the most recent year I could find info on) we had 125 robberies per 100,000 people. It appears that 53 out of those 125 were strong arm robberies, meaning that no weapon was used, but even excluding those robberies, we still have an armed robbery rate that is much higher than the murder rate. This means that most criminals who put a gun to your head or a knife to your throat just want your money, not your life.
Also, taking into account only the robberies in which firearms were used, we still have a rate of 53 per 100k.
That being said, sure, there are definitely occasions when the criminal in question doesn't really care if you live or die, but those situations are the exception, not the rule. According to the numbers, it's better to just hand over your valuables while being mugged rather than try to be captain america.
Also, it's funny that you mention our nation's abhorrent gun homicide rate in a remarkably dumb attempt to prove that we need more guns.
I never said we need more guns.

I said I want a gun.

Earlier, you had said that, "smoking is a CHOICE that the f_cking government should stay out of." Now, you say that you support an excise tax on cigarettes, and earlier, you supported a ban on the sale of tobacco products to minors. Have you had a change of heart?
Where did I say I support the excise tax?

Why do you read into things do much?
How about smoke-free workplaces and other confined public places like restaurants? Do you support that?
Yes. I always have. Even before it was a law I never smoked in a restaurant.

As far as a smoke-free workplace, that depends on the workplace.
Perhaps. Do you have a plan there? It won't be as straightforward as taxing cigarettes.
No I don't have a plan. And this is getting pretty old. You continuously deflect everything I have to say over and over and over again.

Why are you ignoring that a fat, diabetic person will cost more money to Medicare in the course of their life than a smoker well?

<quoted text>
“Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind." - Genesis 9:6
This explains a lot. I wasn't clear in what sense man was said to be made in the image of your god. It's a blood vengeance, isn't it?
Most of the time, we're told how unfathomable your god is, and that we couldn't possibly understand him with our puny minds. Christians also teach us that we are inherently evil and filthy with sin, whereas their god is said to be sinless and perfectly good. So naturally, I was confused by the claim that we had anything in common with the god.
After all, according to dogma, the god is invisible, immaterial, immortal, perfect, infinite, lives outside of space and precedes time. Obviously, you and I are nothing like that.
The god is omniscient, omnipresent, supernatural and has magical power. We aren't and don't.
Your god never had a spouse, never had sex, never experienced lust, divorce or a broken heart. We do.
It was also never born, never had parents, never raised children and never had a sibling or a friend.
Your god has never slept or had a nightmare, never had a headache, has never had the flu, felt hot or cold or been hungry. Been there, done that.
Your god has never had to support himself, never had to study or learn. never been humiliated, felt guilt, blame or shame, and has never been afraid.
But now, thanks to your insights, I think I understand the claim. We both impose death sentences - your god and man. We both kill as punishment.
Of course, the god goes a tad further and throws in eternal torment to up the ante. And many states have outlawed many of your god's practices, including the death sentence. So,many of us are not even in his image at that meager level.
I just couldn't see what we had in common with that god that we should be said to made in its image. I knew that it wasn't our sense of humor. I don't remember Jehovah ever joking or laughing.
Of course, I still say that the animals are much closer to man's image than that god.
Sorry, I wasn't listening. What?
