Baptism is to cleanse us of the original sin when Eve disobeyed
God and told Adam to eat of the tree of knowledge, good and evil.
He told them that they would "die the death".
There also was a tree of life and other trees that they could
eat from.
They are our forefathers that have left us in sin with God.
We are always trying to make our lives happier.
We are never alone. God is always with us. We need him to help
us. I am always praying. We have to choose to want life.
He loves us.
Eve, if she had existed, would have done so several million years ago, and so we are to be cleansed for her screwing up? Likely the creator of the story was thinking in a bit shorter span of time than that. If we want to be cleansed for something why not make it for the things we do wrong now?

Interesting factoid: Dubai has 29% of the world gold market. Why? No tax!! They sell 24 karat, 1 kilo ingots at the airport!! The cost? As I recall, USD 60,000. I passed on it.
Why do people in the west get excited about 9 carat gold? It's so sh*t!!

The middle eastern gold is soooo pretty, it has a different colour to the gold we buy in India.

There's a very strange crew there, a bunch of whiny, paranoid right-wingers still stinging from Obama's reelection. Totally humorless, all of them.

We should schedule regular forays to unsettle them a bit, as we just did.

. The material world is the illusion.
So yes, hit yourself in the face with a rock and you will feel it. That's the whole idea.
Grab a hand full of Aetheric Energy and hit yourself in the face with it, the result will have no effect on you.
It will pass straight through you.

"If you answer a question with the wrong answer on a school test, are you lying or are you just wrong?"
Then you would just be wrong.
Claiming to know there is a god is a lie for we all know there is no knowledge of any gods and the claim is without merit, regardless of whether or not the person making the claim believes it to be true or not. It is as much a lie as claiming there are aliens on Pluto or claiming to have won the lottery prior to checking your ticket and the fact that you did end up winning the lottery or that there are aliens on Pluto does not change tha fact that it was a lie when the claim was made.
Yes, I agree with you that a person who claims they know God exists is lying because no one knows that. I think though that many people have been raised that God exists and His existence isn't to be questioned, and one is even sinning to even think about such a thing, so they would say they know, meaning they believe.

But if the "peace" "passeth all understanding"; doesn't the fact that you fail to identify this peace suggest the fulfilment of the promise of a peace, that is of a nature that passes (your) understanding?
No. What I see is frustrated agitation. It isn't peace at all.
