I think I'll take some to silence the thoughts I have about women with short hair and small boobs. It's a slippery slope.

Still, the gays should all move back to France.

Good people don't do evil things, period.
True. Bad people do good things and good people do bad things. People are just people but good and bad/evil are ever changing concepts defined by the society at large.

Wrong. Society is defined by people. It's never the other way around.

To an extent, yes, but I wouldn't agree that morality is totally relative. In certain situations and cultures something that might be appalling to us might be perfectly moral within a certain culture, but does that mean that something like torture could ever be moral, no matter the intended ends?

And in response to nanoanomly, who said that "good people never do evil things," I would direct your attention to one of the most famous psychological experiments of all time - Milgram's "obedience/authority " experiment. He found that otherwise perfectly normal people were willing to administer potentially lethal electric shocks if only a man in a lab coat told them it was ok. It puts a lot of things in perspective - for instance maybe all the nazi's weren't "evil," they just didn't question authority; maybe when a US soldier shoots an iraqi child in the head, he's not evil, he's just following orders and making a mistake.

.
Torture would be moral if society deemed it moral. You saying that it is never moral is you imposing your individual idea of "right and wrong" onto that specific culture that does approve of it.

HOw am I wrong? Society is the people and their agreed upon social behaviors and interactions with one another. People change, societies and cultures change, hence the morality of a society changes.
It used to moral and acceptable to have segregated schools. Now it is not because society (the people) deemed it to be immoral. All I was saying is that shit changes constantly. What is moral today could be immoral tomorrow and vice versa.

no way man society defines us... the earth defines us..

our genetics define us... we can redefine it.. but the fact that we have chosen not to.

is proof that it controls us...
