Good one! Unpatriotic, servile and morally treasonable. I'll buy that.
I remember when it used to be "Love it or leave it." OK, no problema. So I left it. Win-win, right?
Now I hear bitching about that: "You are a coward & a traitor & an America hater. This is why you moved to Mexico."
Indeed. It's pretty ridiculous. You're only allowed to have a problem with america if you leave, and if you do leave, you're a traitor for not sticking around and trying to fix the problems. Ridiculous.

<quoted text> It is not my job to convince you of anything. Your rants against God is nothing new or original. That is why the Psalmist wrote around 3000 years ago ....Why do the heathen rage and the people imagine a vain thing?
Unbelievers here keep putting forth i am defending slavery as depicted in Scripture when in reality it is only pointed out as a fact in ancient cultures and i don't know why folks like you are unable to comprehend the distinction. This has been addressed time and again and responses ignored.
No, it has not been ignored. Your claim - that slavery being common practice back then is adequate justification for your god condoning it - has been addressed several times. No one is denying that slavery occurred back then - I am claiming that it's "normality" does not explain why a supposedly perfectly moral, loving, and compassionate being would approve of it. In his only testament to the world - the bible - why would your god not flat out state that slavery is wrong? Why would he be bound to such a narrow world view as to base his teachings on the fleeting moral landscape of the bronze age? Perhaps it is because the bible is not the word of god, but a book of stories by scared, superstitious people who were trying to describe god the way they wanted him to be - meaning a slightly more moral version of themselves; which is to say - not very moral.

And no one is "raging" against god. You can't rage against something that doesn't exist. My problem is with how a certain stubbornly persistent mind virus continues to influence the world in many negative ways.

<quoted text> No need to. And, regarding your name, there are lots of things Christians do which are good for the world. It's just that they don't trumpet those good deeds out. Like the Bible says - when doing good works, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing (Matthew 6: 3 and 4). What has atheism ever done for the world?? And, even if it DID do good works, Christianity did them first. It's only doing what the Christians have been doing for centuries. You have a good day.
christianity did them first, really
like geometry....oops my bad pagan Greeks gave us that
civilization...oops Romans, Greeks, Persians, Egyptians, Chinese etc gave us that
democracy...oops my bad Romans and Greeks

here what Christianity gave us
child abuse and protection of pedophile on a world wide basis
thousands of years of Religious wars
Inquisitions
witch trials and burnings
Westboro baptist church
thousands of years of science repression
the Middle ages, commonly referred to the DARK AGES
the decline of civilization after the Roman Empire
genocide
world wars
ethnic cleansing

and one can argue the Bubonic plague

some record you got there, I wouldn't be bragging about it

Hello?!? Helmut, do you hear me? That's like Great Britain telling Nazi Germany "Ok, you can have Poland and France, but that's it. No more. And be nice to those people! Or else!"
What an imaginative piss-ant wimp you worship.
if you don't like nazism, why are you socialist? it's the same thing, but we just haven't seen it's full fruition yet.

.. I will not tell you what I can and cannot do with my slaves because you are a free man ..
actually, under Jewish law, on the year of julilee the jews were required to set slaves/indentured servants free whether they paid their debt off by then or not. many of them would refuse freedom and chose to continue to be members of jewish households because they saw how God was in their midst.

it was really a wonderful law, considering the barbarism of the surrounding nations at the time.

why are pagans always so barbaric and why do you refuse God's ways???

That's a pretty poor reporting. Did they become fools, or did they become as fools? What is the difference?
And what made them become fools - or become as fools - just then? How do we know that they weren't fools already?
when one thinks that they're wiser than God, it's the epitome of foolishness. it would almost be funny if the stakes weren't so grave

The criticism of you isn't that you're defending slavery,
/QUOTE] Yes it was. They were waiting for a justification from me and saying i defended slavery.[QUOTE] but that you're defending the indifference of a god that can't be bothered to care about slavery as much as he cared about people not wearing cotton-wool blends.
The comforters of Job supposed they were defending God. In this time we are allowed to go our own way and evil is allowed, but not in an absolute sense. There is a Restrainer which will be removed. Read the New. The parable about Lazarus and the rich man. Lazarus suffers and the rich man ends up in torment. This life is a blink of an eye.
The principle objection, however, is to your bible's ethical code, not you. Those ethics belie the claim that they come from a god. That's what we want people to see: that your book was not written by a god, and the god described in it is not good.
It is not so much the ethical code as you call it but the fact people want to do their own thing without consequences. They do not want to give an account to God for the lives they had and the opportunities they ignored.
