Yeah- kind of like a thinking, rational adult saying that until they see Santa Claus flying through the sky on Christmas Eve in a sleigh being pulled by 8 tiny reindeer they won't believe.

Gee- why is that, I wonder?

Could it be that some things are just too ridiculous and far fetched to be believed if not seen with one's own eyes (or at least with the eyes of someone else who is a thinking, rational adult)?

If seeing signs and/or "wonders" isn't necessary, why DON'T thinking, rational adults believe in Santa Claus? Or leprechauns? Or unicorns?

Because it would be ridiculous to do so, that's why.

But when it comes to those who are as sure as they are sitting there that there is a god, it is all too apparent they have convinced themselves beyond any doubt because they need a CRUTCH and SOMETHING to believe in for which there is no proof of its actual existence because they can't face the REALITY that THIS life is the only life we can be 100% sure exists.

Too many people go through THIS life- the ONLY one ANY of us can claim with absolute truth exists- as if it is a dress rehearsal and then too many people at the end of their lives come to the realization that THIS life is the REAL deal and they wonder why they wasted it on believing in some imaginary unknown.

Huh? I thought you were an adult - can't you produce a grammatical sentence?
You made these logical flaws:
- appeal to ignorance
- argument from personal incredulity
- special pleading
Not to mention that you actually believe in a young earth despite all evidence to the contrary. That puts you, at minimum, 160 years behind the times.
Anyone who believes the earth is 6-7000 years old is not a rational person. You quite clearly don't care about evidence or scientific findings. So there's no point in discussing with you.
Plus, you're oddly obsessive about a joke I made and feel the need to run around writing about me.
Why are you so insecure in you're an adult and I'm a kid? Why do you claim I lie about my profession when you know almost nothing about science?
You're a blathering idiot and an attention-grabbing, insecure, whiny infantile loser who's trying to compensate for willful stupidity. Well, sir, I can tell you right now that only learning can help you and you've pushed that away as far from you as possible.
Two words: grow up.
What ignorance was I appealing to? Explain more. That isn't evidence. None are, that is still just a claim. Arguement from personal incredulity, still another useless unproven claim, that you call evidence, explain why I lack personal credibility, especially when you are a child who doesn't know me in person anyway. And what are you on about, specially pleading? What did I plead? You are really hyped on your little hormones aren't you little girl? I said I meant to say 7'000-6'000, not 700-600 years old for the earth. You have no experience life help anyone at your age anyway, go on, give me some good life experience. How am I insecure. You have no proof to claim the world is that old. The world would probably have worn out into metroites by that time. The only evidence you have is hearing other people say it has no evidence, you don't have evidence yourself kid. You are very unlikable, in fact, you are incapable of being loved, I bet even your parents have said that. You haven't gave me prove that I was wrong about how I perceived you either, if you had a phD you would probably be flowing with all sorts of evidence to claim as well, which you don't, you know nothing and thats that. You can't be loved, hell, you don't even know what love is, you have never been in love and have never been loved, whether platonic, romantically, or parentally.

if after you go prayerfully and meditatively to the source (4 gospels/biographies) and you still don't like Jesus, i'll know where you stand and i'll leave you alone, since the desire to be completely 'alone' from God is the only real reason anyone whould reject Christ after a clear understanding of Him.
What source, energy, the universe, the stars, my mother ovaries?

One reason to reject any god is knowing. Knowing than no omnipotent entity cannot exist in this universe at the same time at matter – you are matter

Another reason is personal analysis of known facts

Another reason is scientific analyses of known facts

Another is not being subject to self delusion

Another is not being subject to mass delusion

Bacteria yet inhabit every possible space. Where they are not is where they cannot be. So their inhabitable spaces are finite.
If the first organism was like a bacteria (a proto bacteria), it would have reproduced, eating up all the previous replicators (not yet life stuff) and expanded. But it's genetic code, whatever that was (not DNA, maybe something like RNA) would have been poor, with no error correcting mechanisms (ours has lots). It therefore would have produced lots of variants - and those that could reproduce would instantly be competitors for food (most would have just died).
If, against all odds, it had perfect replicatability, it would end up running out of resources when it filled up all the inhabited areas. We are talking about 3.4 billion years of evolution prior to the first multicellular life. That's quite a lot of time - 7 times as much as multicellular life has had. So, from the beginning of life to 500 million years ago, it was the Age of Bacteria.
<quoted text>
First, language doesn't describe evolution very well - math does. So English speakers must rely on metaphors to get their meaning across. Words like "purpose" are invoked b/c English readers relate to that better than "just 'cause."
Second, the environment changes. All selection pressure comes from the environment. When the environment changes, some traits might not enjoy a selective advantage over new ones - so the newer ones are selected for.
That's not purposeful. It's just the outcome of the three factors I mentioned earlier in the context of their environment.
<quoted text>
In basic: different ways of life involve compromises. Slow creatures are often very tough to kill. It's perhaps better if I use plants as an example. Plants produce toxins to keep herbivores and insects away. But there are trade-offs between how fast you can grow as a plant (to compete against other plants) and how much toxin you can produce (to keep things that eat you away). Fast growing plants do so at the expense of being eaten, but they get the sunlight first. Slow growing plants can keep from being eaten, but may lose out on sunlight.
<quoted text>
Use google for that one. I'm not a cat specialist. Sorry. I specialize in human evolution.
Here: http://www.wearesites.com/Personal/Hyenas/hy_...
<quoted text>
You're an intelligent man, RR. You ask astute, tough questions. The knowledge is most certainly not beyond you - and it's out there. All you have to do is use google for the basics, google scholar for the in-depth answers. And of course I can do my best to answer your questions, but I really specialize in humans. I have a smattering of knowledge outside of humans, but most of my comments on, say, cats would all be guesses and not educated opinions.
Thank you, that helps.

I've always viewed RNA as like a CR-ROM drive, DNA as the CD-ROM & protein as the information on the CD-ROM.

Woudl that be an acceptable analogy?
