If homosexuality was morally accepted, wouldn't homosexuality automatically become socially accepted?

yes, it will be accepted.. the ancient myths of ghosts in the clouds will continue to fade, intelligence, logic, reality will continue to slide in and all will see homosexuals as loving humans, not to be hated or feared.

All this hate and fear comes from religions that are based on ancient myths

In my lifetime, I have seen moral values decline tremendously in the things I view on TV, in advertising and also in general. Behaviors that used to be taboo are now acceptable behaviors. Curse words that used to be consider unacceptable on TV during family time, are now used on TV regularly. So now my children can learn to curse at an earlier age.

Since we as a people seem to have no absolutes as far as what is morally right or wrong, it seems to me that if we wait long enough, our morals will decline low enough to make homosexuality morally correct and thereby making homosexuality socially correct.

So before homosexuality can become socially accepted, we have to first wait for our morals to decline to a lower level. We seem to be declining at a high rate of speed, so I don't think it will be too long before we accept homosexuality as normal behavior and I don't think it will too much longer after that that we will think having sex with children or animals is okay too. How low will we go? Do we have a limit? We'll see. But I bet we will go much lower than anyone here wants to go. We just keep pushing the envelope.

MARRIAGE DEFINED - Man and a Woman

Dictionary.com Unabridged
1. the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc.
2. the legal or religious ceremony that formalizes the decision of a man and woman to live as husband and wife.

American Heritage Dictionary
1. The legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife. etc. etc.

Soooooooooo Adam and Eve? Or is Adam and Steve okay? Is there any such thing as a moral absolute?

I don't see why not really. There is nothing wrong with love and I am not gay (just reasonable and open-minded). I don't think it's "immoral" just because it's not my lifestyle. They are not harming anyone.

Coolmind,
"All this hate and fear...from religions...ancient myths"
That's a stupid comment.

Completely divorced from religion, homosexuality is abhorent and repulsive.

What don't you understand?

How do you "feel" about people who eat dog poop?
Is your "feeling" based on (lack of) religion, ancient myths, or just plain bigotry?
Or dou you embrace eating dog poop?

Hate is merely a deep seeded fear of something you don't understand. Gays & Lesbians do NOTHING to hurt you or anyone else, let them live their lives in peace! I am a straight woman and believe that they have the right to the same legal protections in marriage as you or I. If your church doesn't agree, they dont have to perform marriages.

Get over it and your self righteous self. They hurt no one by loving each other. Ignorance breeds hate, hate is deep seeded fear of the unknown, thus ignorance! Don't be an ignorant fool.

I never said anything about church.
Did you jump (or leap) to a conclusion.

And where did you find this, "Hate is merely a deep seeded fear of something you don't understand."?

Or did you just make it up?

Repulsive is repulsive is repulsive.

Why would you assume that accpetance of homosexuals would be immoral??

I'm gay and I'm probably more moral than most people on this site. I stand by my word, I try to never lie, I love nothing more than serving greater causes and helping other people. You could trust me watching your children before you could trust the guy next to you in your church pew! I have never hurt an animal..I have risked my life for others. I am patriotic. I am courageous. I am a true American..can you say the same for yourself?

And I wonder why it is that people that don't know me would want to deny me happiness?

Why would you compare gay people to people that eat dog poop?

But just for the record..if someone wants to eat dog poop..I don't care as long as they don't make me eat dog poop! I mean sure, it's nasty to me..but that's just MY OPINION. It doesn't count for much.
