Yes. I don't want him to buy stuff for me. I want love, respect, faithfulness and partnership.<quoted text>
If your husband said if you marry me I would like to give you a mink coat, a diamond ring, and a new lexxus, would you also be insulted?

I haven't found that to be true. |

The reason I generally dislike feminists is because they believe it should be their way or the highway. They look down on ladies who choose to live the traditional homemaker lifestyle and berate them as being weak-minded and/or lazy waifs who are unwilling to enter the work-force and stand up for their "rights."
Furthermore, if they see a graphic of a lady in an apron with a pie they seem to go off the deep-end "OH GOD, THAT'S OFFENSIVE! I AM NOT AMUSED!" They seem to spend their lives being offended at everything feminine and traditional, and it sickens me. Personally, I think the feminist movement, while its done a lot of great things as far as equality for ladies goes, it overall has been quite damaging to the structure of the nuclear family, and has led to the general downslide of ladies' behaviour. Just as an example, 60 years ago girls were brought up to be "above" the baser behaviours of boys--they were expected to be neat and practice good manners at all times (not to say the same wasn't expected of boys, but it worked that slips in a boys behaviour were more tolerated and even expected). Sexist? Sure. But neccesarily in a bad way? No. Now, because of the bra-burning women's liberation movement, girls are routinely slovenly and ill-mannered (though I think people in general are ruder now than they have ever been) and the phrase "that's not ladylike" is all but extinct. And as far as the impact on the nuclear family: households are now more likely to have two-incomes from both parents being in the workforce, leaving no one at home to raise the children. Couples are more likely to divorce now, further fracturing the family (for the first time, there are more single/divorced ladies then there are married ladies in the U.S.). I think core family values are disintigrating, and I think the pebble that started this landslide is the feminist movement. So, there you have it. Reasons why I dislike and perhaps even hate feminists. |

So what you're saying is that you hate feminists for trying to preach to you what's 'right' and control you. So you respond by doing the same thing to the feminists? I think what you really hate is your own hypocrisy. |
|||
Your kind of insinuating that taking care of the family is unimportant or not appreciated by all men. My wife use to be part of the corporate world and now stays at home, and wouldn't trade it for the world. Sure its harder moneywise, but shes happy, and I'm glad shes happy. If I could stay home and take care of the family and my place, "it would be a blessing and not a burden". I don't have near the time I need as it is for work, chores around the house, or yard and garden work. But thats just me. |
||||
I guess I don't understand. You asked why some women hate feminists. I responded. How is that hypocritical? I don't recall stating anywhere that I go and rail at feminists and try to shape them to my will (because I do not). I posted my reactions to them railing at ME and the reasons why I don't appreciate it. I think you're just someone who wants to be "e-superior" and are unwilling to listen to respondents opinions. If you started this thread as flame-bait, then there was no point in any of us replying. |

I wasn't insiuating anything, I was stating a fact, alot of men still think that a woman should be barefoot and pregnant all year long....alot of men think that even though the woman has kids to raise, a job outside the home they don't have to help out, they come home and whine and moan that supper isn't on the table and his clothes are washed, the house not cleaned... |

1 Who cares what a lot of other men think? But that was kind of my point. Because who cares about what a bunch nazi-feminist believe either. Its about making yourself and your spouse feel mutually important, appreciated, thought of and cared for, and to say all men are like that is a lie, just as a man saying all women are femi-nazis. Its about communicating, not running off and joining the straight legged marching nazis who you feel are of the same opine as you. This is one of the reasons marriages fail today, lets not communicate, just verbally attack and join the he men woman haters club, or in this case the she-men man haters club. |

Well we will be married for 27 years this November, we lived together for 7 years before we married, so it's total 34 years together, I must have done something right... |

Congrats to you on the 27 years. I'm either detecting your unhappy or your falsey presuming all men are like that.
Once again not true. Reread my post. |

You're presuming that I'm presuming that all men are like that. I am not a femi-nazi [who thought of that dumb word anyways] I don't hate all men, in fact I don't hate anyone, I'm a happy person, when i'm not unhappy. Today it's sunny out, 74 degrees and my 3 year old grandson will be here soon... Who could ask for more???

Yeah, we need more feminist nuns. |

Hell no, you shouldn't be paid for raising your own kids. Who would pay you, anyway? |

Writing in Paradise, do you think a woman can be both a feminist and feminine?

Of course not, I was being a smart a$$..... |

I'm sure feminists have a great time when they are together. Its when they bring their agenda into normal conversation with those who don't share the same outright hostility that their bitterness and unhappiness becomes apparent to everyone else. Case in point: Those who infer, as she herself did, that Rosie was let go because she is a woman. |
