Lots of controversy over a 7/9 year old's dance routine at the national dance competition, viewable on YouTube as video number /watch?v=-eGqhXgvuic or search for there as "Dance Precisions / Single Ladies / Santa Ana" as a dad I don't really see anything wrong with it at all, is this an example of rampant prudishness in our society these days? Perhaps a backlash, overcompensation for trying to "protect our kids"? Go to YouTube and peer the video, and then discussion...

I don't see anything wrong with the routine, the outfits or anything, the kids just see fun outfits and it looks like they're having a blast dancing. And as far as what any person might think when they look at them, yes I'm sure some people do get aroused looking at little kids dressed like that dancing. But you can't use that as the criteria to decide what is or is not "too much". Because there are some people which are going to get aroused NO MATTER WHAT the kids are wearing, or what they're doing. Case in point, I've had more lecherous looks in my school uniform (back in the days when I wore one) than I ever have at clothing optional recreation areas when I was nude (but then you do tend to meet a nicer group of people in the naturist community's). I guess the bottom line I think is, kinky and arousing is in the eye of the beholder – and no matter what you do, some people are going to find arousal there. Kids should not be denied the chance to put on shows of that caliber and type, just because of what someone might or might not think when they look at them.

Ha ha, I don't doubt it – I have a tween daughter who dances and I overheard her telling her sister pretty much the same thing. That she knew what some of the men and teenage boys were thinking when they watched her because her development is really kicked into high gear in the last couple of months, and that she liked it. They don't wear leotards, more a shiny red two-piece dance outfit that's like a conservative bikini bottom and the best way to describe the top is kind of like a matching jogging bra. But my point is-no matter what they were, someone is going to find it erotic and have those thoughts about. I don't care whether it's a snowsuit, a leotard or a skimpy bikini. You just can't control what people are going to think, and no matter what you do some of them are going to think it. So don't feel bad at all about having liked the attention in your leotard!

Thanks Dave – I got it bookmarked now, that is just the coolest kids dance routine. So much like the one I saw back when I was that age and that's what inspired me to get involved in dance. As you know I never stayed with it really, but I sure had fun being in those competitions for a couple of years.
