Drug addicts on welfare, and drug dealers, and people in gangs, and extremists with guns, do not make anything, they cannot drill for oil and then refine the oil into gasoline, they cannot generate electricity and then put in the power lines to bring the electricity to homes, they cannot build or do anything constructive, and they cannot do anything good which contributes to society.

It sucks that people are trying to make good role models out of drug addict gang bangers in the bad neighborhoods. The gang bangers do not contribute anything good to society. The gang bangers are scum.

We need to make role models out of the brilliant, hard working people who actually contribute something to society.

Gang bangers cannot put a man on the moon, they cannot put a satellite into orbit, they cannot build a cell phone and make it work, they cannot do anything constructive.

We must stop people from making gang bangers out to be good role models for the children, and we must make good role models out of the good people who build things and who create things and who contribute good things to society.

One example of a man who was a great role model was Ben Franklin.

So far as the entertainment industry, Roy Rogers was a good role model, and Ted Nugent is a good role model, and there are some others.

With many children being born without fathers, etc, there needs to be good role models for the children. Seventy percent of Black children are being born to unwed mothers, and the children need to have good role models.

Well Tony, what can I tell you. To be a "role model" takes a lot of hard work. Sure, you can be a "role model" hang around the 'hood, talking jive, how long will that last? untill some other punk comes along and pops you. There are opportunities out there, many are free, all you have to do is go out and get them. I promise, it won't hurt.

True, good role models are the ones who are honest, and who work hard.

Tony, thanks for chatting with me. There was a time in my life when I was one of those "punks", thought I was tough, etc. Then one day I realized I'm not getting any younger, where am I going?

So I studied electronics, I knew nothing about it, but I studied my ass off. I managed to get a job with I.B.M. as an engineer. I am now very happily retired. My choices have served me well.

I never tried to be a "role model", I just did the best I could.

Good for you. You actually are a person who is a good role model, I hope that you have a great retirement.

My mother's cousin is one of my role models and he worked in the electronics industry too. He studied hard, and he worked hard, and he has had a very good life, and he is happily retired now too, the last that I heard he was coaching a basketball team for high school girls.

I have not really done anything yet which would make me a good role model. I am honest, and I have studied hard, and I have worked hard, I am not a drug addict, and I am not an alcoholic, and I am not a criminal, but I have never really accomplished anything which would make me a good role model. But, I am not ready to quit yet, there is still a lot that I want to do.

I guess Bill Gates and Paul Allen would be considered to be good role models. As would Steve Jobs. Along with guys like Nikola Tesla, and Thomas Edison.

I wish us all a very happy New Year, I hope that 2013 will be a great year for all of us.

Salute,

Tony V.
