You mean like male humans reproducing inside a host female? Are Human males alive?

And just to extend the thought experiment a bit, by your definition, the creature in the "Alien" series of movies, that creature would NOT be alive? What about round worms, tape worms, pin worms and liver flukes?

You are equating survival of humans, to needing to reproduce in the belly of a whale. Nolo contendere .

Survive in another form outside the host.

Virus is to even my surprise only meeting half the criteria to be considered "alive".
Therefore can we consider if a halflife?

But we can't asexually reproduce! We need a man or a woman, if u are a man, that does not mean we are not alive and then when we have sex we become alive! heheheheheeeee

Drink a pint of water. That'll prevent the hangover.

Then nap.

Trust me that I know this.

Microbiologist can't even agree on whether or not a Virus is a living organism.
It acts like one; that's close enough for me.

The Mimivirus is not like traditional virus. It is called the mimivirus because it mimics a bacterium.

If viruses don't reproduce, why are there so many of them and how do they make us sick? I think you've been mis-informed.

He asked you. Once again, you can't back up what you claim.
<quoted text>
You just described living organisms.

No link.

The link for Discovery Magazine provided real info; copy and paste, not so much. The Discovery article proved that viruses are living things.
blacklagoon wrote:
<quoted text>Viruses by themselves are not alive.
Dormant does not mean without life. I proved that with the comment about roundworms and volcanos.

Don't tell me to "PAY ATTENTION!" when you don't yourself.

Ascarids--also known as roundworms (toxocara canis and toxacaris leonina)--are the most frequent worm parasite in dogs and cats.
The nature of a parasite--like the virus--is that it lives off of a host. These two organisms cannot survive outside on their own. They need a host; that's why they're parasites. In the open environment, they are dormant.
Are you going to tell me that roundworms are not living organisms?
blacklagoon wrote:
<quoted text>You're missing the point here..........The difference between a roundworm and other PARASITIC ORGANISMS and a virus is, a virus does not have a cellular structure
It doesn't matter. You are trying to ignore my point while telling me I'm missing yours.
blacklagoon wrote:

Neither can roundworms. Are you saying they aren't alive, either? Yes, basically, you are.

It has life ,but "its life" is highly dependent.
On another life, and it has "no life" without a life to prey on.

I see that as a mechanical existence.
