If she was lopped off above the feet, why didn't they say that. Saying "legs" makes you immediately think of a much higher chopping point.

I hope they can sew them back on, but even then the recovery will be long and painful.

Many the these THRILL RIDES are an accident waiting to happen. May GOD be with the girl and her family.

I saw this on CNN and they had no cause of the accident - in fact they said that investigators were not even sure where the accident occured on the ride.

i think chris reeves is looking down seeing that the "SUPERMAN CURSE" is still alive and well. it is a slap in the face for the image of SUPERMAN to have this kind of tragedy occur. May the MIRACLES of modern medicine give this sweet girl the chance to be healed from this horrible accident. May ALMIGHTY GOD guide the hands of a skilled surgeon to repair her physical injuries. And may HE hold the hearts of her loved ones, to help them heal SPIRITUALLY.

The type of "thrill" rides, which cost that poor girl her ankles and feet, have a long history of being dangerous, unpredictable and most likely to cause the kind of accidents which befell that girl. They should all be shut down, dismantled and permanently banned from ever being built and/or operated again.

My heart goes out to that girl. I hope she is able to get the medical, physical and mental health help she deserves, so that she can walk again. The designer and builders of that ride should be held responsible for all the bills resulting from that accident. Maybe hitting them in the pocketbook will teach them to think a little less thrilling and a little more safe.

Yikes! My family and I are planning a trip to 6-Flags this summer.[Arlington, Texas] The kids won free tickets in a reading program. They are just now tall enough to ride all the rides. I wonder if we should re-think our plans? More information on how it happened would be helpful.

They said legs because her legs were severed your legs aren't only above the knee...they go to you ankles...
What an awful tragic accident. I hope she is able to recover fully.

Take a look at how many people ride this type of ride on an annual basis with absolutely no problems whatsoever. The events involving this little girl are certainly tragic, but they are an abberation in the grand scheme of things. Most likely, the park and/or ride manufacturer will pay for her hospital bills. Even if they were found to be not responsible, it would be a wise PR move.

As for shutting down the rides, etc., that would be the worst kind of knee jerk reaction. There are hundreds of people hurt and killed in car accidents every day. Should we ban cars? Sue the automakers for producing a product that causes so much pain and misery?

I'm stumped - should I laugh at this or not??? Funny - but tasteless. I feel at least a courtesy laugh is required.

According to what I heard on the news a cable broke as the car was traveling to the top of the ride. The cable then swung back and hit the girl, severing her legs above the ankles. Before hearing this report, I had just assumed that the car fell back down but it was actually the cable that did the damage. I would never have imagined the events unfolding the way that they did. I'm not a huge fan of rides but had just taken my children to this particular Six Flags the day before this accident happened. My children are small so we rode the little kids rides but they can all be dangerous. We had a great day at Six Flags but hearing this story made me sick to my stomach. I pray that this little girl recovers fully. My God be with her and her family.

I'd like to know if her legs were actually in restrainst when this occurred, or did she have her feet over the edge of the device when they got chopped off. Kids sometimes do stupid things that end very badly, so this may not have been entirely the fault of the equipment.
