I have had Rottys since 1985 at times as many as 3 dogs(and 10 puppies) at the same time. I had two die last summer and am only left with Schultz, the son of Greta and Lucifer. I miss you dogs, and you Blazer, and you Shadow(shadow was a Gordon Setter)and you Lucifer the first, and Precious, and Meisha and Sasha. I love Rottweilers and will always own one. Right now I have a Chihuahua, named Chewy and my baby boy Schultz who is 6 and was just diagnosed with lymphoma sarcoma. I have him on chemo and hope to at least prolong his life for another year or so. They gave him 6 weeks without the chemo. He is the best dog, and unlike everyone thinks, he is a big baby, and very gentile. He has this facade of barking and acting big and bad to protect the property but he is really a sweety. So lay off the
breeds like pits and rotts, bull mastiffs and akitas, etc. It is not the breed it is the owner.

I like Rottys, but I like Golden Retrievers better. One of my friends has a Rottweiller-Golden Retriever. He has a golden face and coat with Rotty colors and his body looks like a golden on steroids. He is a very nice dog.

I agree, there are no bad dogs, only bad owners. I happen to have a Shepherd mix and a Chow-Lab mix. My Chow-Lab is the biggest loverboy dog in the world. Yet if I needed to rent there are places that would not let me have him because he is half Chow. What a crock! My theory is that usually the smaller the dog, the more aggressive the dog. I have a friend who has a mastiff and that dog is a gentle giant. I also have friends who have Rottys. They are wonderful, loyal and lovable dogs. I'm sorry for your loss. It is always hard to lose a good pet/friend. I hope your guy gets through his therapy and lives out the rest of his life a happy dog.

FRENCH poodles always surrender to GERMAN rottweilers. Goldens are lovers, not fighters.

I own a 130 lb German Rotty (Female) She is gentle, sweet, affectionate and obedient. Her name is Buckeye but she also goes by "Sissy Girl" because that is what she is. A giant sissy. She is a good dog. We even have small children and she does wonderful with them. Some dogs have mental disease and are aggressive because they can't help it. This is when the owner nees to identify this and take action. Majority of dogs are good at heart though. It's all in how you raise them. Rott's are not for everyone. It takes lot of patience and a LOT of time to train them. They are stubborn dogs. I love my Rott and I would get another and not think twice.

I have an Alaskan Malamute, he's 125 lbs. They are also on the bite list. Ajax, my dog, is one of the gentelist dogs I have ever had. However I think that coupled with the bad owner theory, alot of the reason for dogs being on the list such as these has to do with the amount of damage they can do in one bite.

My do got my controler for 5 seconds one time, had to buy another one.....

I have a 6 yr old rottweiller. She is the most wonderful dog I have ever had. People are ignorant and don't realize that it is all in how they are raised. I had a miniature pinscher that would of bit quicker than her. My rott is more scared of you than you are of her!

Most times, aggresive dogs are aggresive because of how they were raised and the signals (intentional or not) that their owners give them. We recently found out that there were things we were letting our Shephard mix get away with that made him think it is okay to be aggresive in certain situations. We have worked on correcting it, and he is learning well. The big thing is your pets need to know that you are the ALPHA DOG and you are the one who determines what is acceptable. Dogs obey their "pack leader" but you must be willing to take on that responsiblity.

Being a dog lover and having had dogs in my life since as long as I can remember I feel it is the owner who makes the dog behave the way he does. My sister has a pit-bull that will not let anyone but her family come near it. My daughter on the other hand has one that anyone can love on. It has the most beautiful personality of any dog that I have own, and I personally did not care for the breed because of what I had heard about them. It was this dog that changed my mine about it being the owner not the breed of dog.

Rottweilers are great dogs. The reputation is from bad owners.

Personally, I love Bernese Mountain Dogs. They are wonderful dogs. I believe they are the best family dog.

if you're a drug dealer...

i live where i see all the drug dealers heading into the inne city with their pitbulls and rottwielers..

funny thing that...

might as well have a sandwiche board on them saying..."I sell drugs"..or"i'm into crime"...

i know not everyone who owns a rottweiler is into crime....just seems to be the dog of choice for them...

i like police dogs...german shepards...closest thing to a wolf you can get.....loyal...trustworthy ...and highly trainable...

Best dog breed = German Shepherds. Nothing wrong with Rottis though ... I like them too - just not as much.

If we are talking best breed I would have to go with the BOXER. Had two loved, them both till they died. They are great with children and loyal to a T with you. I still grieve the lost of mine and hope some day to get another. Just cann't right now because they are expensive!

Whether its the owner or not the fact is these dogs kill and maim in alarming numbers. That fact can't be ignored. Recently a 6 y/o boy was killed by one. I hear of attacks all the time. Must be alot of bad owners.

I made a delivery to a rural setting one time and the guy had a pit bull in a fenced kennel. It had to be 7' tall. The PB dang near jumped over the thing. I stayed in my truck for about ten minutes before the owner finally came out.

I said I wasn't getting out until someone came out and was just about to leave. He said his dog was just friendly and if it would have gotten out would have tackled me and at worst licked me to death. Yea right, that dog wanted to kill me!!
