I'd love to have something to shoot the f***ers' knee caps to smithereens with. But my history of extreme anger outbursts will definitely count against me. Don't need a license for an air rifle though, and it'll at least cause a little bit of damage and let 'em know we mean business. Sort of. Just hope they're not packing some serious heat, then we're screwed :-/

Get the kind you need to pump up. 5 mm. would suit well.
then practice, a lot.

Are there semi-automatic air rifles available? Might go shopping a bit. Having to reload every time before taking a shot is kinda time consuming. By that time, the intruder will be long gone. I spoke to my dad about the idea, and he agrees that it'll at least disable him long enough for the dog to have a go, or for one of us to pound his stupidass head in with a golf club. The baseball bat idea sounds like a better bet at this stage. Keep it beside my bed. I had a hockey stick from when I was in school, but it got lost between my move from my ex back home :-( I had that stick since '99 I think, so had a lot of sentimental attachment to it

Can't wait to purchase that baseball bat and go to town on an unsuspecting intruder. Beat 'em up just enough to keep them from escaping, till the police shows up. Speaking of which, the neighbours' dog started barking like mad again last night, same time as before, sometime around 22:00 - 22:30. Our dog joined in and dad walked around the property with her just to be sure

Ruby, I don't think there are. I know npistols are aailable that use a co2 cartridge. Most rifles have a storage for BB's. Not so for pellets.
You still have to pump it after every shot.
Find a Benjamin, made in Germany I think, 5mm. Kills small game easily, deters intruders too.

p.s. head shots can be fatal.

The problem with the Co2 pellet pistols is they lose a bit more with each successive shot, and they leak out over time. Daisy makes a .22 cal pellet rifle in the Powerline series. You can pump it up to the powerlevel you want/need. I've used one to hunt squirrels before. Pretty accurate. Beats a dinky .17 all to pieces.

I'm glad to anybody beat the Yankees. The Red Sox, The Orioles, even the jays.
I happen to be a Rays fan you see. How 'bout that Longoria? Best 3rd. baseman or what?

goes without saying, anything with a limited capacity(gas cartridge) will lose out over time. Know what you mean about the .17.
Then again the tiny wittle .17 Bee is another story ....

6544- missed it by that much.

Still prefer steel-jacket .22 rounds to anything else. My rifle is the bees knees....and given amenable wind variance, I can shoot a bee in the knee with that thing.

Steel jacketed .22's? Not in my neo if you please.
But .... during my experimental years (!!?)
I did concieve of a SS rod inside a .38 special.[+P load]
pretty neat it was. NOW the Army guys use them in their tanks, great for piercing armour..
38 sp.=.357, SS rod .125. I thought about Tungsten but the heli-arc rod is quite small.

The tank rounds are made of depleted uranium. Harder than steel and are hyper-velocity,close to 4,000 fps. Upon impact it creates a chemical reaction of sorts with the armor plate and literally burns a hole thru the armor. Depleted uranium is a great penetrator. It is also used as the core for the 20mm and 30mm rounds for the GAU cannon on the A-10 Warthog and helicopter gunships.

Morning friendlies :-)

Had a great weekend. My friend phoned me up early Friday evening and invited me over, I spent the night and we had breakfast as a restaurant, and rented a couple of DVDs. I left just after 17:00 on Saturday afternoon. Yesterday was my sister's birthday, so we had the family over, and made a "potjie" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potjiekos )

Had a good night's rest but I'm still tired, lol.

Hope everyone had a great weekend, and wishing all a good start to the week (*hug*)
