I know what you mean. There was a decent blues bar on the strip, butI forgot the name. Saw Richard Boals there.
I always sail past that inlet. Port Canaveral to Ft.Pierce, then to Manatee pocket, then Port Everglades and on to the keys.
6789, bet and old fuel tank and an empty rum bottle(but it looks clasic!)

Rotor, I need your help. Whilst discussing the topic of lighthouses, I tried to explain how they do keep one off shoals and reefs. By using you sextant and the known hight of said lighthouse, you can figure you distance. swell, then I had a senior moment, and forgot the damn formula!.
Know it by chance? thanx...

Height of L/H divided by Tangent of angle gives distance.

TOA--- Tan = opposite over adjacent

opposite is lighthouse adjacent is distance off.

Why do I know that? And more importantly--what the heck does it mean?

Next time you sail past the St. Lucie Inlet ...I will be anchored up on the eight mile reef, waving at ya! Haven't been out in a few weeks. Winds been blowing and the seas are too high for me. This week is nice. Winds calming down, nice temps in the 80's...but a cool front coming through at the end of the week (which means wind again) It seems during the work week, the seas are calm, but by the weekend...wind is blowing.
Winds work for you, not for me!!(I turn green)

Didn't you say something about us hearing from a lawyer today? Well, we didn't, so if we were supposed to, you might want to contact the powers that be to let them know.....

I'll give it a day or so. If nothing, then I'll call. You know lawyers who've already been paid.... They're kinda slow.

SOH- sin = opposite over hypotenuse.
CAH- cos = adjacent over hypotenuse.
TOA- Tangent = opposite over adjacent.

Also X squared + Y squared = Hypotenuse squared

or hypotenuse = The square root of X squared + Y squared.

You took some Trig at some point in school.

OK, just wanted to make sure everything was still on track..... Checked the long range forcast--no snow (or ice) for Christmas Eve or Day--flurries the day before though. I'm keeping fingers crossed that everything decides to "gel" and work out.....

You would need a chartplotter. Radar helps too, but.
It's night and severe weather. You are on a lee shore and the storm has caused an electrical failure. On;y thing working is your battery opperated lantern.
DR puts you in vacinity of said lighthouse.
Look for the flashing light.
Or flashing lights in your rearview mirror.
