This discussion began with you bragging about how much oil Canada supplies to the U.S.. NOT CHINA. You just undermined your own premise.
Oh.. The NDP has blown the damage to the environment out of proportion? REALLY?

Oilsands damage is ignored

The amount of one category of toxic chemicals released into the air by oilsands production has gone up by seven times since 1994.

And right now, only 11 per cent of mineable oilsands are under development. What will the air be like a decade from now, when 25 per cent of oilsands are expected to be under development?

"Making liquid fuels from oil sands requires energy for steam injection and refining. This process generates two to four times the amount of greenhouse gases per barrel of final product as the production of conventional oil.[3] If combustion of the final products is included, the so-called "Well to Wheels" approach, oil sands extraction, upgrade and use emits 10 to 45% more greenhouse gases than conventional crude.[4]"

Be sure to check out the video of the hemp care on this site.
HERE ARE THE REAL CULPRITS THAT KILLED FORDS HEMP MADE-HEMP POWERED CAR..
DuPont, Mellon, and Hearst:
Diesel expected that his engine would be powered by vegetable oils (including hemp) and seed oils. At the 1900 World's Fair, Diesel ran his engines on peanut oil. Later, George Schlichten invented a hemp 'decorticating' machine that stood poised to revolutionize paper making. Henry Ford demonstrated that cars can be made of, and run on, hemp. Evidence suggests a special-interest group that included the DuPont petrochemical company, Secretary of the Treasury Andrew Mellon (Dupont's major financial backer), and the newspaper man William Randolph Hearst mounted a yellow journalism campaign against hemp. Hearst deliberately confused psychoactive marijuana with industrial hemp, one of humankind's oldest and most useful resources. DuPont and Hearst were heavily invested in timber and petroleum resources, and saw hemp as a threat to their empires. Petroleum companies also knew that petroleum emits noxious, toxic byproducts when incompletely burned, as in an auto engine. Pollution was important to Diesel and he saw his engine as a solution to the inefficient, highly polluting engines of his time. In 1937 DuPont, Mellen and Hearst were able to push a "marijuana" prohibition bill through Congress in less than three months, which destroyed the domestic hemp industry.

You're quoting one newspaper article and a wiki article....seriously.

I work in the industry and know what companies are doing to decrease the enviromental footprints on a daily basis...I have one project out of Claresholm Alberta right now that is strictly experimental and the big players in the oil sands project are paying me lots of money to just report on what they're doing.

The fact is oil is not going away and magic hemp plants will not replace the infrastructure and economies that depend on oil any time soon.

I don't see ANY links in your post. I see nothing to refute, no new information, at all.

Have a nice day..

BTW...Industrial Hemp is NOT "magic". It is a viable source of energy...if the oil companies would let it be. Did you even read the articles?:-/

Oil sands reserves have only recently been considered to be part of the world's oil reserves, as higher oil prices and new technology enable them to be profitably extracted and upgraded to usable products. They are often referred to as unconventional oil or crude bitumen, in order to distinguish the bitumen extracted from oil sands from the free-flowing hydrocarbon mixtures known as crude oil traditionally produced from oil wells.

There really isn't anything from your post to refute Nancy.

You posted an article talking about using various oils including hemp seed oil to create diesel fuels, a wiki article on the il sands and a newspaper article taking about toxic chemicals being produced by the oil sands...you haven't shown how creating alternative fuels is less environmentally acceptable or what the production of the necessary materials would mean to things like food production so you're really only producing a partial argument.

I am all for finding alternative fuel sources that are more enviromentally friendly and more sustainable so we're on the same page there...what I don't think you understand is the ramifications of using these alternatives could be just as bad or worse.

The entire infrastucture of most countries is built to accomodate petroleum products....this can't change overnight and would create a complete global collapse of all our economies if we tried to make it change overnight.

The fact is that Alberta/Sask./NFLD are producing a product the rest of the world needs.

Your point trill?

Oh ya, you don't have one as usual.

All you can do is copy/paste someone elses words then pretend you have a clue about the subject matter while proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that you simply don't....right professor?

Where does water come from? Where does methane come from? Where does gases from lava come from? Where does wind come from.
Like I already stated all animals didn't gather together in huge droves and drop dead in one place. And scavengers gnawing on the bones of their remains, means not much got buried under ground. Unless you are saying they had been buried in a sand storm and their decaying flesh oozed out of them and sieved through the earth and rock and deposited their mass in large underground caverns.
How much plant and animal remains does it take to make ONE barrel of crude oil...
Answer that....Watch you won't.
