In the last 30 years there were in the neighborhood of 300,000 gun-related homicides, most of those drug/gang related. Her number apparently includes suicides, and virtually none of those were accomplished with high-capacity weapons.
There were also about 2 1/2 times as many people killed in accidental falls.
Also, about 3 times as mnany people died due to accidental poisoings, and about 4 times as many die in road accidents.
Assault weapons are stricly controlled in the US and mostly unavailable to the average citizen. An AR-15 is not an assault weapon, and there is no military force on the planet using it in their arsenals.
