<quoted text>You misinformed lever pullers should recognize by now you cannot legislate this problem. How many laws have you put on the books? Why are you crying for more? They have not stopped killing, look at Chicago and Washington D.C.
Because they aren't regulated enough. State laws need to be tightened up and made more consistent with each other, and the states need to cooperate in sharing information. Why would any rational person be against that? Would you just allow anyone to buy as many guns as they like without any tracking? You don't think that's a bad idea? Because that's pretty much how it works in much of the country, which is why there are so many illegal guns out there. Suggesting the solution is yet more guns is just stupid, akin to using gasoline to douse a fire. Make gun registration mandatory every time the weapon changes legal ownership, and make the gun owner at least partially responsible for it's safekeeping and use. All that is being insisted upon here is responsible gun ownership. How can that possibly be a bad thing?

All this was started by the Connecticut shooting. What of all you suggest what would have prevented that specific case from happening?

I don't understand why any rational person would be against strengthening gun control laws, including tracking their sale, and requiring insurance to those who own them. Make the sellers and owners responsible for their use, and watch the number of illegal guns become drastically reduced.
How would any of these measures have stopped the Newtown shooting from occurring? That's the issue here - an end to school shootings. You can't legislate horrific incidents of this kind from happening again.

Does him being biracial make you unhappy? Are you a racist because you deny he is half white?

So what will they do when the next lunatic drives a car onto a playground at a school or daycare and starts mowing down little kids, attempt to ban cars?

Here in CT, where the Newtown tragedy happened, when you buy a gun you go through a five day waiting period, an FBI check and a copy of your new purchase is forwarded to your local police department.

What a racist statement!
I am shocked at you.
Barack Obama is half white, so why do you call him black?

All these mass shootings have two things in common. They were all perpetrated by people with mental health problems and all(except the Giffords shooting)were committed at "gun free" zones.

I would recommend not passing laws based on anecdotal occurrences. But that being said, there should not have been guns in the house of a child who was mentally ill.

Of course not. You should surround the school with manned tow trucks.

You've established correlations. Now you just need to show causations.

I'm not suggesting one could, not entirely. Perfection is the enemy of good. No law will ever perfectly prevent anything. But that doesn't mean one should not try and remedy an ongoing problem as much as one intelligently and reasonably can.

No matter hiow many laws they put down for guns, the Black market is the biggest seller of firearms in the world... Just ask the govt leaders. They make a fortune off of them, either on the table or under it.
There's illegal gun running and sales going on 24-7-365.....on all levels from the teen on the street to the White house and beyond.

Possibility: Violent movies/TV/video games. Possibility: Illegal drug use or mis/perscribed Psychotropic drugs. Possibility: Single parent upbringing. Possibly a combination of any of the above. One thing is clear-it wasn't the weapon's fault.

There shouldn't be a lot of things but besides that none of your suggestions would have done anything to prevent this tragedy. That is why a liberal cannot effectively come up with a solution to anything. You must put your prejudices aside and look at a problem directly to solve it, something you are not willing to do.
