I was stationed with the 100th MP Detachment in Fischbach in 1971 & 1972. The detachment was in charge of security procedures and deployment of Sentry Dogs at the depot. We lived on the 3rd floor
of the 64 ord. barracks. Before I left Fischbach,
the new movie theater broke ground. I believethe new construction was between the mess hall and the 165 th MP Co. There used to be a sign located near the mailroom advertising the 165 as Stalag 165.

I was a short timer by then,:) some of the names sound familar, most of our group were shipping out or already gone, I left a few friends behind but had no contact with them any more. I went back to Germany (Dahn) a couple of times and visited with Walter, he also came to the states and visited me. Did you know Lidia,(Lee) Walter's waitress, she and I kept up too, she ended up getting married again and moving back to the states. After awhile lost contact with her also. I also kept up with Marty Berkowitz, we arrived together and left together, we became good friends. Don't know if you know but Walter died back in 1991 or 92.

That was my last year there, I was there until the end of the year. Probably walked by you, I was in the 4th platoon. I also have returned 3 times, but that was years ago, Walter was still living, even then it wasn't the same, it was taken over by the German Nationals. I have to say we had a lot of good times there.
