The idea that everyone has a duty to die may sound very cynical to many people. Many people find this very demeaning to entertain.

However, this paper seeks to analyze various arguments by the philosopher John Hardwig and tries to express various arguments advanced by this philosopher. The paper evaluates the arguments put across and takes a position.

His advancement of the duty to die has raised many hypothetical and metaphysical
questions (Callahan, 1993).

Are you a believer? It seems that those that support the duty to die, want others to do the dying. Should someone help me to die I believe it would be my duty to help as many as I can to die that came to kill me.

"Duty to die"? It's our destiny. It is our "duty" to help our fellow man while we live.

Good point, Mr. Martin
While their may be certain times in our lives where duty calls us to sacrifice, the more typical reality is it is our destiny to die.
Unless you subscribe to the legendary reality of that fellow promising everlasting life.

Metaphysical? Dude, seriously. That shit died with Peirce and Dewey in 1937 after destroying America's education system. We don't have a duty to die, time takes care of that for us.
